In this comprehensive article, we'll delve into the unique aspects that make Yamulee Dance School a premier destination for salsa enthusiasts across New York City, exploring its accessible location, diverse class offerings, distinctive features, and why it's so well-suited for locals looking for an unparalleled dance experience.
The philosophy at Yamulee Dance School, under the direction of Osmar Perrones, is rooted in the belief that learning dance should be an intensely enjoyable and transformative experience. This commitment to both excellence and enjoyment is consistently highlighted by their students. One reviewer, even traveling from New Jersey, enthusiastically stated, "If I could give it 10 stars, if that is the highest, I would. I have not taken a class here but I have been to their social. It is quite far from me as I am from New Jersey. Most of my time has been training and dancing socially in New York and I am one to take myself out of my comfort zone. I am trying to find a way to get to the classes from where I live. The people I met are friendly and one even said you are more than welcome to come back this is family. This tells me a lot about the people I am with. I will keep coming back to this school. For those of you wondering if it’s worth the trip go and see what do you have to lose you only live once." This powerful testimonial speaks volumes about the welcoming and familial environment that defines Yamulee, making the journey worthwhile for dedicated dancers.
Another student praised the pedagogical approach, noting, "Great school and even better instructors. From what I’ve experienced so far, everything is very faced paced and digestible. The shines are tough at the beginning, but with repetition you’ll catch on. Not having everything explained is a plus because it forces you to learn and think outside of the box. Lastly, what tops it off as a great school I would have to say is that the vast majority of the students who attend are trying their best to improve; even the newcomers like myself. I highly recommend taking classes Yamulee." This review underscores the effectiveness of Yamulee's teaching methodology, which balances rapid progression with clear, digestible instruction, encouraging students to actively engage with the material and develop their own problem-solving skills on the dance floor. The dedication of both instructors and students creates a high-energy, motivating atmosphere that is truly conducive to learning and improvement. Yamulee Dance School doesn't just teach salsa; it cultivates a community of passionate dancers dedicated to mutual growth and enjoyment.

Dec 29, 2020 · Jason BradleyWas going here consistently for a few months, and while I have learned a lot... sometimes the instructors are hit or miss. Some are great at teaching and others seem annoyed, bothered, and are terrible at explaining moves in a slow manner, especially to students who are just starting. (Like myself) As much as I love this place, I had to look elsewhere to learn.
Nov 11, 2020 · Oli VeraVery good instruction, shines, patterns, partnerwork. Only that they don't break down patterns, leave you on your own. Reopened last month state allowed. I'm in a group where they break down the patterns. Excellent instructors. Staff very friendly.
Oct 06, 2020 · Sahran HolidayI came in for my first class today and they treated me like gold. Excellent shines and partner work too. Will be returning. Definitely recommend.
