WR Arts Introduce
For families in New York, particularly in the vibrant and diverse neighborhoods of North Brooklyn, finding a nurturing and enriching environment for children and adults to explore the performing arts is a top priority. WR Arts, located in Brooklyn, NY, stands as a dedicated non-profit organization committed to providing just that. While not a "point of interest" in the traditional sense of a tourist attraction, WR Arts is a vital community hub where creativity, discipline, and a love for dance and theater are cultivated. It's a place where individuals of all ages and backgrounds can discover their artistic potential and connect with their community through movement and expression.
WR Arts operates with a clear mission: to provide an "open, supportive artistic environment" for those looking to "cultivate a lasting relationship with Dance and the Performing Arts." This commitment extends to blending North Brooklyn's culturally diverse neighborhoods "under one roof to build a stronger community together through the arts." They strive to make high-quality arts education accessible, offering a range of programs including "In School" on-site afterschool enrichment and their "Home Base" general children's and pre-professional training. This dedication to inclusivity means they "welcome artists of all races, sizes, and orientations to explore who they are in an Inclusive (never exclusive) space."
The core of WR Arts's offering is its belief in the transformative power of the arts. As one parent noted about the afterschool program, "Our son Teo has been enjoying all the programs he's attended so far, and we'll definitely repeat next year." This sentiment reflects the engaging and educational approach that teachers employ, aiming to "entertain and make sure kids have fun, but also educate." While a past review mentioned areas for improvement in communication regarding daily activities for afterschool programs, it's clear that the overarching goal is to foster a positive and stimulating environment for artistic growth. WR Arts is truly a place where creative minds can flourish, enriching the lives of New Yorkers through the universal language of dance and performance.

WR Arts Reviews
This is for the AFTERSCHOOL program (not dance), which my child has attended several times a week for the past year. A huge area for improvement: providing updates or quick content rundown within the theme of the day/week the child is partaking in. Picture updates are provided around every quarter and you’ll randomly see a pic of your child, but you really don’t have an idea of the day to day or how they’re progressing. My child barely brings home any projects and when it’s the end of the day, it’s hard to talk to a child that’s already been stimulated and tired. This is an area for improvement on the program’s part, I believe. The times when my child is most upset or have nightmares, probably from active days are WRArts days. Unfortunately, The difficult days are the times when she remembers what took place. One time my child detailed how the teacher raised her voice at my child, maybe because they didn’t hear the teacher, who told them several times not to touch something. It was loud and harsh enough that it made them cry. This could have gone either way, and it’s hard to gauge what actually took place, but incidents like this are uncomfortable for a parent to hear after the fact. We didn’t find out through a teacher but through my child. So the updates and honesty if incidents like these would be good. Other days, my child seems okay. This is a review done after a few semesters of my child partaking in the program. Teachers are generally very sweet. Each day has a designated theme (ie if you choose to go on Wednesdays, it’s theater or Fridays, it’s world culture). It’s great that these options exist. We won’t be coming back next year. We hope the program could improve and glad that it worked out and does provide a good option for other families out there.
Apr 03, 2025 · m l.Only good words for the work that all the teachers at WR Arts do. They entertain and make sure kids have fun, but also educate. Our son Teo has been enjoying all the programs he's attended so far, and we'll definitely repeat next year.
Mar 07, 2025 · Luis Héctor RubioOur son did the aftercare at PS110. It was such a wonderful experience we’re signing up for another semester. The educators are highly engaging, friendly, and love my son.
Mar 07, 2025 · Will ThomasMy daughter loves this program! She attends the pre-k ‘around the world’ program and always coming home telling me about new cultures, foods, and words in languages of the place they learned about that day. I wish they had this for adults!
Mar 09, 2025 · Dina Murphy-SchmidtOur daughter loves attending the WR Arts after school program at PS 31. The staff are so sweet with her, she comes home singing, dancing and smiling. She has grown so much in the last few months and made close bonds with her school friends and the WR Arts staff. Our daughter started Pre-K Fall 2018, we were nervous for her to spend 10 hours a day at school, the after school program has given us a lot of comfort knowing she’s having a lovely time and also growing daily.
