4.0
Streb is an amazement and represents what is authentic and true in New York in terms of innovative dance and acrobatic culture. Growing up as a dancer in those glorious 1970's, we all paid attention to Elizabeth Streb and her intellectual and boundary-pushing approach to presenting movement. Her magic is the template for this sort of space, and she continues to inspire and motivate. I used to run a similarly malleable acrobatic/dance space in LIC before the pandemic , very much inspired by Elizabeth's journey. Last weekend I collaborated with Streb to make an immersive event for a high level client, and was utterly charmed by their attention to detail and the warm welcome into their world. Having run my own warehouse, I'm a rather fussy critic of flow and safety within a space that has rigging equipment , aerial apparatus, and an abundance of obstacles, and I was enormously pleased with how they navigated my group , rules in place, but allowing for fun and improvisation. Shoutouts to Bobby H-T with his silky yet impish temperament and problem-solving prowess, Ayal and his nimble team of flyers and Jackie guiding some enthusiastic trampoline jumpers without incident. Excellent event. I highly recommend Streb to throw your next party. - Suzi Winson
