Star Steppers Dance Team Reviews
This is an honest, non-partial review from a father who's child participated in this "program" for 4 years. If you are contemplating having your child partake in this type of activity, I strongly encourage you to watcha few episodes of "Dance Moms" on Netflix because what you are walking into is about 50 times worse than that. I am not kidding! There is a state of constant drama, animosity, jealously, anger, fear, insecurity and hate between groups of Mothers. Simple things that have NOTHING to do with dance like someone's kid not being in a picture,or one kid getting an extra feather on their costume, or one kid not wanting to sit next to another kid, one kids donut was bigger than the others, you get my point, ALL keep the atmosphere in a constant stateof turmoil and tension. And, it is NOT the kids believe it or not, it is the MOTHERS and NOTHING to do with dancing at all! The poor kids are just innocent victims. It is so bad, that certain groups of mothers dictate to the owner who should and should not be allowed to participate in the program and the owner and staff have no backbone to say otherwise...If you can get past all of that (and trust me it's a-lot), then you need to be prepared to shell out the $$$. There are constant money-grabs, "fees", throughout the year where they go to "contests" where there are only 2 or 3 other teams competing where they always place second or third, (out of the SAME 2 or 3 teams).... you get the picture...And to top it all off, the poor kids spend hours, days, weeks, months practicing the same dances over and over and over and over NOT being developed as Dancers, but preparing for a two-minute routine that fails to yield ANY winning results time after time...So here we are now, 4 years and $60 thousand dollars INVESTED (no exaggeration).... My child has recently been blackballed from the program, apparently because her mom did not get along with one of the other moms (groups of moms) who controls the owner and her staff. Nothing to do with my child's performance, or abilities but because of the insecure mental state of certain mother(s).Our daughter will be just fine. One door shuts and another door opens :) I just wanted leave an honest, non-biased opinion for anyone thinking about getting their child started in this activity.Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I am not hard to find. :)Good luck!
May 10, 2025 · Sam CummingsLove Star Steppers Dance Team! My daughter, Madison, (not to be confused with "Student Madison Taylor" who gave a 1 star review) danced here for many years when she was younger. I credit Tamara, Kristi, and Angela for helping shape Madison into the dancer and person she is today. She would never leave a review that said "they suck." But kudos to the parents who raised the kid who did that. Nice work. ;)
Sep 22, 2020 · Jennifer TaylorI love this studio! The girls here are so amazing and they are like sisters to me. Everyone is treated with respect and everyone is kind. Also the teacher’s push you to do your best and make you into very amazing dancers! I’m on competitive team and it’s fun to travel as a team and compete in competitions with my friends!
May 27, 2018 · Jade AndersonMy wife was a Star Stepper, so when our daughter decided she was ready to take lessons this is the first place we looked. Now two years later she's still going strong.
Oct 23, 2017 · Jim ForemanI really can’t say if the dance team is good but the Studio only has 8 reviews so i think it might not be worth it to dance here
