Symmetry Dance Wellness Reviews
I participated in an 8 week absolute beginner course at Symmetry. For the most part, I found the class to be inclusive and casual, which I appreciated since I just wanted to try something new. While amongst the participants there were some small gripes about classes starting later than intended, I thought it was a great workout and was helping me become more flexible. Unfortunately, I had a pretty negative 1:1 experience with a substitute teacher that ended in me crying and feeling very discouraged to try ballet again. Apart from my personal experience with the substitute teacher, they also spent the class calling some students' movements "ugly", telling people that they needed to suck in their stomachs more, etc. I understand that ballet is an art form, but did not feel like the session was body positive whatsoever. I did email Kip about this for over a month but I never even got any kind of response from him. I found the experience as well as the customer service after the fact to be disappointing for a dance practice that preaches inclusivity and aims to bring ballet to a wider range of individuals. I wouldn't personally recommend the class at this point in time.
Nov 13, 2024 · Chloe SmithI was interested in coming here. I was looking for a positive, judgement free, inclusive place to take a ballet class. Judging from the review that was left by the woman who was discouraged from taking classes here…I think I will pass! That’s not a good look on the company. No response is still a response!!
Mar 21, 2025 · Victoria OhSoPrettyIm so excited to find this place! Kip is so knowledgeable about ballet and the body and I love all the nuggets of info he provides along with the excellent instruction. A true beginners ballet is hard to find and this class is fab!
Sep 05, 2024 · beachlvrThis is a great place to take class. Kip is a dedicated and passionate teacher. I look forward to returning as soon as my schedule allows, but just show up and try a class. You can VENMO at the door too.
Aug 22, 2024 · Chris DavisKip is great and only teaches adults. Ballet is strict yes, and so is Kip-- but not unreasonably so. He's passionate about dance and teaching. Whatever level your at Kip will find a spot for you! No experience necessary. Men take classes here too regularly.
