Philly Dance Fitness prides itself on fostering an incredibly supportive environment. As one dedicated student eloquently shared, "The community she has built of dancers of all ages, abilities and levels is incredible. Dancing with Beverly reminds me that I am home. I started as a nervous brand new beginner, total klutz. Despite my various disabilities, the way the classes are taught and the humor and grace from a stellar teacher made me keep coming back." This sentiment underscores a core value of the studio: inclusivity and encouragement. Whether you're an absolute beginner who's always dreamed of ballet or a returning dancer looking to refine your technique, you’ll find a place where curiosity is encouraged and learning is a joyous process.
The studio’s commitment to quality instruction is evident in its embrace of the Vaganova style of ballet, a rigorous yet rewarding method that emphasizes precision, strength, and artistry. However, the teaching approach at Philly Dance Fitness ensures that this classical training is delivered with a refreshing blend of structure and support. The instructors are skilled at breaking down complex movements, making them understandable and achievable for adult learners. The joy experienced by students as they feel themselves "DANCING" is a hallmark of the studio, a feeling amplified by the collective applause and encouragement from fellow dancers for every new step, turn, or toe point. This invaluable sense of camaraderie and shared achievement creates a truly unique and motivating environment.
Beyond the technical training, Philly Dance Fitness recognizes that dance is also about self-discovery and a deeper connection with one's body. The emphasis is not just on perfecting an art form, but also on "just existing in my body and focusing on those small, precise movements that make ballet what it is." This holistic approach resonates deeply with students, allowing them to find confidence and grace regardless of their starting point or any physical challenges they may face. The consistent return of students, even those practicing remotely, speaks volumes about the enduring impact and unique quality of the classes offered here.
In addition to its acclaimed ballet program, Philly Dance Fitness offers a diverse range of dance fitness classes, ensuring there's something for everyone looking to move, sweat, and have fun. The studio aims to be a comprehensive wellness destination where dance serves as a vehicle for physical health, mental clarity, and social engagement. Philly Dance Fitness Reviews
Weeks out from another trip home, and months out from 10 years with Beverly, I can not say enough about the place where I learned ballet. Trained in the Vaganova style, Beverly offers classes for adults of all levels. The community she has built of dancers of all ages, abilities and levels is incredible. Dancing with Beverly reminds me that I am home. I started as a nervous brand new beginner, total klutz. Despite my various disabilities, the way the classes are taught and the humor and grace from a stellar teacher made me keep coming back. When I couldn't figure it out, I took more classes until it all made sense. We are encouraged to be curious and to ask questions, to keep wanting to learn. I dedicated my focus to this incredible art form, but more importantly, I dedicated myself to just existing in my body and focusing on those small, precise movements that make ballet what it is. Far from intimidating, the classes are full of joy and excitement when a newer or advancing student feels themselves DANCING. The way we all applaud each other for each new step, turn, toe point, is invaluable. I still practice remotely because these classes can't be found without Beverly. Returning home is always complete with ballet and hugs from my fellow dancers who continue to surprise me in their strength and abilities. If you're considering starting ballet at any age, take classes with Beverly. You will be amazed at your capacity to learn as an adult.Bev (& co.), I love you all and can't wait to dance with you again.
Jun 29, 2025 · Julia NichollsMs Holskin was gracious to let me in the class rehearsal class. The barre warms you up FAST! I followed thru the performance piece and the choreo is pretty. Will definitely return next time I’m in town. Also a block away from HipVityVeg. Bonus.
Nov 24, 2024 · Dawn MaBollywood tech (Wednesday)This class has to be one of my favourite dance classes of all time with the right amount of focus on technique, cardio, energy, and most importantly - the camaraderie. The instructor is inclusive and makes any level of dancer feel confident. She’s extremely patient, encouraging, and makes sure to take the time to catch newer students up to speed - an extremely important quality for me!Would 100% recommend to everyone in my network.
Mar 24, 2022 · Akshita VermaI can’t say enough good things. My 3 and 4 year old did creative movement classes with Ms. Beverly and Ms. Ava on Sundays. My daughter bloomed with Ms. Beverly in way I couldn’t have expected. She often struggles to focus, but she never took her eyes off Ms. Beverly and never felt as confident in anything as she did in dance. Ms. Beverly also gave me a lot of time and sound suggestions on next steps for my daughters dance as she gets older. My son had so much fun with Ms. Ava even though he started at 2.5, he felt like he got to be a big kid too and loved to show us his animal dances .The studio also is incredibly flexible-which is great for busy parents, and they definitely follow through on the fun part!
Jul 14, 2023 · Miriam GreenI been following the instagram for a bit and finally worked the courage to book a class. Created an account and booked a virtual day pass for this Saturdays (6/8) Zumba class only to notice it says the pass expires tomorrow (6/7). That didn’t sound right to me so I decided to call to see what the issue could be. What I did not expect was the person on the other end getting smart with me after I explained the situation, saying “it’s a day pass what do you think that means” like I’m slow. She then told me when to call to join the livestream and said ok several times like I was stupid. Once I acknowledged what she said she hung out without any further words. I hate to be that person but I will not be taking any classes here after that interaction. The rudeness was very out of pocket and uncalled for.
