Philadelphia Ballet Reviews
There is the beauty and classicism of the movement, including the choreography itself, the floor patterns, the interaction of the dancers one with another, and pairs with the whole company. The music is live, so there is the orchestration to experience and be aware of. Altogether, ballet is an art form on many levels of appreciation.
Aug 23, 2024 · Olga KozlovaPlace of nightmares. Would not ever again support or attend this institution under its current company management. Would never send my kids to their school either, as the negative reviews here are absolutely true. Nepotisms and cruelty. It's about the money and public face, deprived of genuine care and artistic spirit. Wish the best for those who go there hoping for something positive, but there are other places locally and beyond. I literally (accidentally) overheard a meeting in which dishonest tactics were discussed for getting resources from parents, and was shocked at what they were saying. That's the least of what I saw. Avoid supporting a place that has exacted cruelty on many who did not deserve it.
Jan 19, 2025 · CrystalThis is a review of the SCHOOL, not the company. The company is of course world-class, which is why one sends one’s kid to the school. The instruction seems decent so far, and it is great for young dance students to be in such a high-powered atmosphere, surrounded by very serious and proficient young dancers. But the school’s communication with parents is abysmal, and that is a major negative! Nobody EVER answers the phone, and they don’t reply to messages on any kind of useful time scale. You might think they would address something essential like parking in a clear and straightforward manner, but they do not! And the instructions for how/where to drop off our kid at her recital venue were comically inadequate. On the positive side, we have been getting free tickets to some of their performances, which is a tremendous value.
Sep 20, 2023 · Sara BernalThe school disrespects its dancers and bodyshames young girls if they are not stick thin. Staff will slack off and pay less attention to students who they don’t see making it to the professional company (which they start deciding as young as middle school). Not every student is training with the intent of joining the company; why invest in them less? They leave those same girls behind, leaving them to be stuck in the same level looking for improvements or critiques, to be told the only reason they haven’t been moved up is because their body is “too developed.” Disgusting. I absolutely do not recommend this school
Dec 18, 2023 · Alexa TarascaMy daughter loves it! She’s 3 turning 4 and very excited to start her second year of classes here. The teachers are wonderful, the performance the kids could participate in was a great experience, and the summer camp was fun for her as well. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great dance school for their kids.
