DanceSport Dupont Circle Reviews
I found DanceSport looking to take a dance lesson with my Valentines. We both did not know how to dance prior to coming to this dance studio. Though there were some hiccups with scheduling however, Terry made it work. We were his last appointment of the day. When we came in, we just asked he teach us something we can dance anywhere. Terry explained Salsa to us. Though we dance at first like we had “two left feet”, he was a great teacher. He was patient, funny, and kind. I was nervous at first but soon I felt comfortable and started getting into the rhythm of things. Though we only booked for 45 minutes, he took extra time out of his night to make sure that we got all the steps down before we left. Since, we have practiced at home and look forward to taking our dance moves out in public. I can’t wait to come back to Terry and learn more dance moves!
Oct 11, 2023 · Esther MarquinaWe found Terry with only one month until our wedding day, and over just a few classes he worked with us to choreograph an elegant, yet achievable first dance for us (we came in with no prior experience). We even changed songs after our first lesson, and he was able to quickly change the style of dance to better match the different pace of song. We had fun with the resulting dance, which impressed our guests and brought out some tears. The space could occasionally get crowded with other classes going on, but it was never an issue. We were happy with everything, and enjoyed our time learning/practicing.
Nov 14, 2021 · Jason JankeWe spent 45 minutes in a footwork class without spending a single second on footwork. Instead the instructor spent the entire time teaching us to raise our left hand on the count of 4 so our partner could turn. Despite their claim that solo dancers are welcome, if you arrive solo you won’t get anything out of this class. I arrived solo and had to stand around with nothing to do when the instructor was watching the couples dance. The school’s website pushes you to purchase a pack of 5 classes. Don’t! Take one class before committing. I paid for a 5 pack and it is a waste of my time and money. I will never go back after class 1 where i lost an hour of my life being told to raise my hand on the count of 4.
May 24, 2024 · BRMTerry choreographed our first dance for our wedding this past November and our guests loved it! It was one of the highlights of our reception. We never anticipated that our guests would be cheering for us! Neither one of us have taken lessons in the past, so we were anxious going into our first lesson. But Terry made us feel very comfortable and was very patient with us. He's very creative and provided a few options/moves for us to use based on what we preferred. We loved going home to practice - it was such a fun experience during the high-stress time of planning the rest of the wedding. I highly recommend!
Dec 17, 2018 · Sarah PeeryTerry is very knowledgeable and has good tips. It’s a fun class that I’ll definitely use at my wedding. My only gripe is that if there’s other classes going on, he’s really soft spoken so it’s hard to hear. Would recommend though! Especially if you want a choreographed dance.
