Two Occasions Dance Lessons Reviews
I started taking private Hip Hop dance lessons a few years ago with Jackie. Working with her really upped my game & made feel way more confident & prepared in both free styling, muscle memory, & learning choreography for my music videos.I am a music artist, creative director & performance artist. I make music videos & perform live a lot for my Eriel Indigo project. When I started working with Jackie it had been a while since I had danced regularly & I felt like I had no control of my body. After working with her weekly, I immediately felt like I could dance again & within a month I felt like I could really slay.I love her style when she dances & I love her style of teaching. She's honestly my favorite teacher I've ever worked with & getting to take lessons one on one was a big game changer for me. By building on basics & grooves & playing with timing & levels she took me from feeling totally out of dancer shape to feeling like I was moving towards where I used to be when I was dancing regularly in a really short period of time. It was a pretty shocking shift in ability.I could also ask to focus on a specific style like popping or waving & she would arrange the lesson around that on the spot. She's just really good. Great dancer, great teacher. Also always on time & super professional.I would recommend her to anyone at any level of technique. Working with her was 100% better for me than taking big classes where I felt lost & crowded & wasn't really progressing.I still take lessons with her when I have projects coming up to get me back in shape & feeling ready to rock.
Oct 16, 2023 · ERIEL INDIGOMy bride-to-be and I were two weeks out from our wedding, with little time, and even less patience, when we first met Jackie. Her one mission: to make two novices look good on the dance floor for our first dance. And she only had three sessions to do it. A seemingly impossible task, but wow, did she deliver! From the moment we met in her rehearsal space, Jackie immediately put us at ease with her warm demeanor as she led us through her game plan. She choreographed a simple routine for us, and then helped us master each individual step before adding another, and then another. By the end of three sessions, we had what we needed: an elegant dance that made us look much better than we ever could’ve hoped for.My favorite part was at the end of each session Jackie reminded us to give our partner a compliment. It was such a small detail, but in the midst of the chaos and stress of the final weeks before our wedding it was an important reminder that the connection between us is really what it was all about in the first place. With the flight to our wedding destination looming, Jackie even offered to meet with us on Zoom should we need to brush up on anything, but we didn’t need to because she’d already done her job so well.I can’t say enough good things about Jackie. Her kindness, her good humor, her sensitivity and expertise were just what we needed at a very important moment and we’re so grateful that we found her.
Nov 13, 2023 · Terrence ColiJackie was my dance instructor and I enjoyed her lessons very much. My goal before starting the lessons was to become more comfortable dancing and expressing myself through dance. I was concerned however, that my habits would not let me conquer this goal. Although I did not become an exceptional dancer by any means, I was able to meet my goal and have the courage to express myself through dance and life. During my lessons I felt at ease and I had fun learning all the moves I was taught. The lessons were broken down and pace was tailored towards my personal needs. Jackie was easy to talk to and prepared for our lessons each time. She was professional and kept on track of where we left off. She made me feel at ease knowing that her lessons always had my goal in mind. I lived about 1-1.5 hours away from her and was not too familiar with the area. However, Jackie always made sure I had parking and knew where to go. She would even walk me to and from my car most of the time. The studio where we had our lessons was nice and private. We almost never had any distractions. The style of dance I enjoyed the most would be hip hop. I didn’t have any specific occasion that I needed lessons for so, most of our sessions were geared towards free style dancing. This style was exactly what I needed. I was able to use what she taught me in all occasions and boost my confidence level. I took lessons with Jackie for about a year and by the end of that year I was able to significantly change my mindset towards dance. I no longer was anxious dancing in social settings and instead felt excited. I think what helped the most for me was the homework assignments. Jackie would have me do repetitions of movements and we would build on them during our lessons. I am not going to lie, I did not do my homework as regularly as I should have but I do feel they were very helpful.I am the type of person who never really listen to music. I was stuck listening to 90s and early 2000s music. If someone asked me what music I liked or who my favorite singer was, I wouldn’t even have an answer. Jackie helped me love music. I listen to music regularly now and I went from listening to the radio to now having my own playlist with 100+ songs. I am very happy that I took lessons from Jackie and have no regrets. I highly recommend her to anyone who would like to learn how to dance or would like to upgrade their dance moves. All in all I would rate Jackie, her lessons and my experience a 10/10.Thank you again!!😊
Oct 15, 2023 · Phebe KumaraBefore I started with Two Occasions Dance Lessons, the mere thought of dancing in public would fill me with dread. I was intensely self-conscious, and the anxiety of being judged for my dance moves was overwhelming. However, everything changed the moment I met Jackie. From our very first lesson, Jackie radiated warmth and positivity, instantly making me feel at ease. Her infectious cheerfulness not only made our sessions enjoyable but also boosted my self-esteem. Over the past 4 months, I am astounded at how many dance forms we've covered, and the credit goes to Jackie's unique teaching style. She never misses a beat, consistently sending me supplementary videos throughout the week to help polish every move, ensuring I get the most out of each lesson.Today, I've gained a newfound confidence not just on the dance floor but in all social scenarios. The thought of dancing with friends no longer intimidates me - in fact, I eagerly look forward to it. Surprisingly, the confidence I gained from dancing has spilled over into other areas of my life. Before my jiu-jitsu competition matches, I now find myself dancing on the sidelines. This ritual not only alleviates my anxiety but also warms up my legs, preparing me for the bout. For anyone contemplating dance lessons, don't delay it any further. I wholeheartedly recommend booking a session with Jackie. Her expertise, coupled with her genuinely kind nature, is unparalleled. I promise, you won't regret it!
