This location is so lovely! Extremely clean and well kept, ample street parking or there’s a small paid lot at the end of the block that’s $1/hr. Teacher Adia is such a joy, the perfect amount of cheery, kid-friendly speak without sounding like nails on a chalkboard. Always positive and upbeat, she remembers all the dancer’s names and creates such a welcoming environment. The location is also great, there is a bakery and coffee shop in the same block, perfect for one parent to work while the other attends class, or to meet friends for coffee after class. Truly can’t say enough good things about this location! - Sophia Ramirez

Tutu School Seattle specializes in providing a joyful and age-appropriate introduction to ballet for very young children. Their carefully developed curriculum balances skill-based instruction with creativity and fun, ensuring that even the tiniest dancers have a magical experience. The primary services offered are through their structured class levels:

  • Baby Ballet (6-18 months old): Designed for the youngest aspiring dancers, often with caregiver participation. These classes introduce fundamental movements, musicality, and rhythm in a gentle and stimulating environment. Activities often include simple stretches and playful exercises, sometimes incorporating props and nursery rhymes to engage pre-walkers and early walkers.

  • Tutu Toddlers (18 months - 3 years old): Catering to toddlers ready to explore more independently, these classes encourage movement and imagination through structured activities. They introduce basic ballet concepts and positions while focusing on developing focus, coordination, and social interaction. Reviews highlight that teachers are "great with toddlers" and engage "very ~active~ little one."

  • Exploring Ballet (3-5 years old): For preschoolers ready for a deeper dive into ballet. These classes continue to build on foundational skills, introduce more ballet terminology, and encourage creative expression. The curriculum often incorporates "storybook adventures in ballet," using the narratives of famous classical ballets to nurture both little bodies and big imaginations. This level balances technique with imaginative play.

  • Primary Ballet Prep (5-8 years old): Geared towards elementary-aged children, this level focuses on refining basic ballet technique, developing body awareness, strengthening focus, and improving coordination and flexibility. It provides a solid technical foundation while still maintaining the joy and creativity inherent to the Tutu School philosophy.

  • Thoughtfully Crafted Curriculum: Across all levels, the curriculum is designed by dance professionals and developmental specialists to introduce ballet technique at the right time for a child's physical and imaginative readiness. This ensures that learning is effective and enjoyable, rather than rushed.

  • Emphasis on Creativity & Joy: The overarching service philosophy is to make space for "creativity and joy" in children's lives through dance. This means classes are full of singing, dancing, playing, and exploring creative dance concepts, rather than being overly strict or demanding.

  • Bravo Bash & Camp: Beyond regular classes, Tutu School Seattle also offers special events like "Bravo Bash" and seasonal "Camp" programs, providing additional opportunities for students to engage with dance and celebrate their progress.

These services collectively provide a comprehensive and uniquely tailored ballet experience for young children in Seattle.

  • Flexible Scheduling for Toddlers: A notable highlight for toddler parents is that the classes are "one of the only toddler classes in the area of any type that isn’t scheduled right during nap time!" This thoughtful scheduling demonstrates an understanding of young children's routines and parents' needs, making it easier for families to participate.
