Surry County Dance Center Reviews
Surry County Dance Center is the only studio I will let my daughter study at. I searched long and hard two years ago to make sure that she was at a studio that not only taught foundational steps but technique and dance vocabulary. Kelly loves our children as if they are one of her own and she truly gives them the best dance instruction in our area. My daughter also had two other instructors and they were top notch AMAZING in every way. No other studio can compare in my opinion. SCDC uses age appropriate dance music and dance steps. NOTHING INAPPROPRIATE at all. Most all other studios in our area are not Appropriate with their dance choreography, costumes and music, The girls are dressed in modest, beautiful, and appropriate costumes for their age the reflect musicality, technique, and the mood of the recital. The music is innovative and upbeat and specially for our studio. There is no other studio I wish for my daughter to dance at and we will continue to study here for many years to come.
Jun 10, 2024 · Nicole ScearceMy daughter has been dancing with Surry County Dance Center for 3 years. We have been very pleased with the professional environment and the top-shelf instruction our daughter has received.Other reviews have said things about vulgar music and movements. The classes and shows have never had any type of vulgarity in the music or the movements and I chose this studio for that reason. At the end of this year’s recital, they had all the dancers on stage at the end for a line dance to the EDITED version of The Wobble. This was no different than what you would hear at a wedding or even a school event. The girls were not moving in vulgar ways and it was clear they were having a great time celebrating the end of their dance season together.I think if we want to, we can find something negative in everything. As for me, I will remember the smiles on those girls’ faces and the feeling of accomplishment they clearly had after an amazing show!
Jun 10, 2024 · Audra CoxSurry County Dance Center offers a great environment for learning dance. The staff are very inclusive here and makes everyone feel as if they are apart of one big family. They greet the students with huge smiles and are so kind! They ensure that are protocols for pro off and pickup to ensure safety and keep the parents informed at all times!Finding this center for my daughter to dance at was the best decision we have ever made, as she has made so many friends and looks forward to dance classes every week! I truly cannot recommend this dance center enough! They are the best around!
Oct 30, 2023 · Bryanna McCrawMy child started dancing at SCDC when she was 2.5! We just completed our 3rd year and I am certain that I would not have her dancing anywhere else!! The instructors here are not just instructors. These women are college graduates with degrees in dance! Plus, they generally love and care about the lives of each of these students and it shows in their interactions!! I am grieved by seeing posts that some folks think the music for the 5 year olds were inappropriate.. as I said, I have a 5year old in the combo class and the songs they danced to were all from the 60s!! Stupid Cupid, Shop Around, and A Spoonful of Sugar. Nothing foul or suggestive in any of those! As for the wobble at the end, it was an EDITED as was the dance to be age appropriate! Kelly and the other instructors are always looking out for the best interest of the young students in their care! I would not want to be anywhere else!! We look forward to many more years dancing with SCDC!!
Jun 10, 2024 · Christie BunnI am extremely disappointed with this dance studio. I recently attended a recital where 5-year-old kids were performing, and I was appalled to see them dancing inappropriately to songs with vulgar lyrics. It was highly inappropriate and uncomfortable for both the children and the audience. I expect a professional and respectful environment for young dancers, and this was far from it. I do not recommend this studio at all. One star.
