Social Inc Introduce
For generations, Social Inc in Augusta, Georgia, has been a cornerstone in the community, dedicated to nurturing confidence, grace, and essential social skills in young people. Established in the 1930s, this time-honored institution has upheld a tradition of excellence, helping students in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) develop into responsible, respectful, and confident young adults. In a world that often moves at a rapid pace, the foundational principles taught at Social Inc — proper etiquette and social dance — remain as relevant and valuable as ever, preparing individuals for success in both personal and professional settings.
Social Inc is much more than just a dance school; it's a program designed to instill a comprehensive understanding of social graces. From learning the elegant steps of ballroom dancing to mastering the art of proper handshakes and confident communication, the curriculum is thoughtfully designed to build well-rounded individuals. The emphasis is on practical, lifelong skills that extend far beyond the dance floor, fostering a sense of poise and self-assurance that benefits students in every aspect of their lives. This commitment to holistic development has made Social Inc a cherished part of many families' traditions across Augusta and beyond.
The enduring legacy of Social Inc is rooted in its rich history, which began in 1935 when Mrs. Henri Price introduced young women in Augusta to ballroom dance and etiquette at the local YWCA. Her vision was to reinforce the social graces inherent to Southern heritage and help students gain confidence through dance. In 1961, she opened her own studio, the Henri Price Academy. Following her retirement in 1973, Mrs. Dorothy Wright McLeod, a former student and Program Director for the YWCA, revived the program, building upon Mrs. Price's successful foundation while incorporating contemporary elements. Under Mrs. McLeod's leadership, the program flourished, leading to the establishment of Social Inc in 1989. This continuity of leadership and dedication ensures that the core values and effective teaching methods have been passed down through the decades, providing a consistent and high-quality experience for every student.
The unique value of Social Inc lies in its ability to blend traditional instruction with a modern understanding of social interaction. While some may view etiquette as outdated, the principles taught here are timeless: respect, consideration, and clear communication. These are skills that are increasingly vital in today's interconnected world, helping individuals navigate social situations with ease and make positive impressions. For parents in Georgia, enrolling their children in Social Inc is an investment in their future, equipping them with the soft skills that complement academic achievements and contribute to overall personal well-being.
Moreover, the dance aspect of the program is not merely about learning steps, but about developing coordination, rhythm, and the ability to move with confidence. Ballroom dancing, in particular, offers a structured yet enjoyable way to learn partnership, leading, and following – metaphors for real-life interactions. The blend of formal instruction with opportunities for practice in a supportive environment ensures that students not only learn the mechanics but also gain the confidence to apply these skills in real-world social settings. Social Inc stands as a testament to the power of structured social education, proving that manners and dance are not just antiquated customs, but valuable tools for life.

Social Inc Reviews
Great place to learn ballroom dancing, & a great place to practice shaking hands properly. It sounds silly, but it’s important. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because it was a bit too white-washed for my taste…then again, that was 25 years ago. Hopefully it’s gotten better. The owner was a genuinely kind, caring old lady.
