Experience Flamenco Reviews
ExperienceFlamenco.com Jerez Trip Nov 2021 BY THE NUMBERS:Between Nov 1st and Nov 15th, we had 18 classes with 3 flamencas, 3+ rooftop reviews, 3 tours of different Jerez neighborhoods, a trip to Cadiz, a trip to a sherry bodega, 5 shopping trips, 2 theater flamenco events (hello! Manual Linan! and Marco Flores!) and a studio taping by Canal Sur. We visited 3 tablaos and 2 penas. We shared 2 meals together (part of the tour) and ate 38 breakfasts, lunches and dinners together. We also went to 1 fabulous bath house with a massage (the Hammam).I don't sing, dance, play guitar or do palmas, so I fit in 2 museums on my own. Hands down, this is the best organized tour I've ever been on and I travel and tour a lot. We met neighborhood artists, real people who live and work in flamenco. We were invited into their homes and private studios. Very different from a commercial show or tablao. I have memories of Spain and her people that will not fade in time. Priceless as we say!
Nov 25, 2021 · Susan GuggenheimI had such an amazing experience on the 2024 Granada trip. I loved the quality and diversity of the dance instruction, as well as the information and access to several different types of flamenco shows. I travelled with my friend but I also really liked the vibe of the group, which I'm sure can been attributed to Laura's knowledge and warmth. I would highly recommend this experience for anyone curious about flamenco in Spain - I will certainly be returning.
Jul 12, 2024 · Degan WaltersFrom classes to tours, Laura provides inspiring and authentic flamenco experiences. The flamenco trip to Granada was one of the greatest experiences for me and my family. My son took flamenco guitar classes and I took compas, baile and cante classes. My teacher was an aficianado in old Graná letras that are nearly forgotten. He was patient and encouraging. Our compas teacher was thrilled to clarify how each palo began and how it branched into another according to regions and cultural impulses. My dance teachers were joyous and so generous with their teaching.Another phenomenal aspect to the trip were the live performances. We got to see the "Bjork of Flamenco", Rocio Molina, stretch the art form while still staying true to its roots. Her performance was spellbinding. We also saw La Moneta at the Jardines de Zoraya and Irene La Serranilla at La Alborea!I was so sad to leave. We all were and we are planning to go again! Thank you, Laura and Julie, for creating a safe and easy experience in a foreign place. Thank you for helping us get to classes and shows and taking us on incredible tours. The Alhambra and all of the flamenco shows were life changing events that my family and I will never forget!
Jul 15, 2024 · DianaI had a great week with Experience Flamenco in Granada, Laura and Julie were super helpful with organizing flamenco class times and locations, as well as organizing Flamenco shows and dinners for our group to attend. Oh, and Laura and Julie were helpful with Spanish translating, as well as interesting history of the Spanish history and culture. No pressure opting in or out of any of the scheduled events, so it was easy to take things at my own pace. I would love to go again!
Jul 28, 2024 · Maja AndersenExperience Flamenco, expect inspirationIf you are Flamenco-curious, Experience Flamenco is the perfect guide. Why not start with Laura Onizuka's blog? Her posts demystify the arcane, open windows to the wider world and, with deep cultural respect, share personal and historical contexts to an intricate musical art form. If you decide to dance, there are many options. For three years I have enjoyed online classes, Portland weekend studio workshops and outdoor pop up classes. Every experience well organized with superb instruction and a warm welcoming atmosphere that draws dancers of diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. Guest instructor workshops were seriously fun and I felt lucky absorbing some magic from amazing international performers including Manuel Gutierrez and Cristina Hall. Yes it is possible to be a bit starstruck and still feel that you belong there with them
