Arthur Murray San Francisco Reviews
Nearly three years ago, I walked into the Arthur Murray dance studio without a single dance step to my name. I was nervous, uncertain, and completely outside my comfort zone. That’s when I met Andrew, the instructor who would guide me through this unexpected journey. From our very first lesson, his patience, skill, and encouragement helped me begin building something I didn’t know I was capable of: confidence. As the weeks turned into months and the months into years, I’ve not only learned to dance — I’ve learned to express myself, to push past fear, and to embrace joy. But Arthur Murray has become so much more than a dance studio to me. It’s a sanctuary. A place where laughter echoes louder than doubt. A space where I’ve formed real, meaningful friendships and become part of a community that celebrates every step, no matter how small.Yes, the cost of lessons may seem steep. But what I’ve gained — the confidence to move through life with rhythm and self-assurance, the friendships built on shared vulnerability, and the joy of dancing away life’s heavier moments — is truly priceless. This studio has not only taught me how to dance; it has helped me rediscover who I am.
Jun 28, 2025 · Katia AouatAt Arthur Murray, I have found a wonderful dance community with great, caring teachers. I look forward to my private and group classes every day.
Jul 02, 2025 · Katrin McManusThis place took me from zero dance knowledge to comfortable on all kinds of dance floors in all sorts of styles. The Arthur Murray system helps you understand concepts like weight shift, ways of counting, posture, clarity. They seem to cater to any level from straight up beginning to people who have been dancing for years and want to hone their skills and I see a lot of couples happy with them. The individual lessons are great, and the teachers take a lot of time and effort to progress your dancing, set goals, take notes and practice practice. The lessons are great for new material and working out the kinks in your dancing. The ballroom has a spacious wood floor, big mirrors and great lighting from the windows. The group classes and parties are really what this particular location shine. The staff put on great classes focusing on a certain style/ technique often with beginner and advanced level option. The practice parties are great, where else in the city are you going to Foxtrot with your friends? A really nice community here with my fellow students as well.If you’re looking to get into dancing, check this place out.
Oct 28, 2024 · G DonI have been coming to Arthur Murray SF for years and love it. My dance skills have definitely improved but, more importantly, I feel like I have made so many friends! No matter how tired I am or how bad of a day, people at Arthur Murray are always so supportive and kind. I've found other studios to sometimes be too crowded or spend too much time instructing and not dancing, but have never found that at Arthur Murray. They are also very professional compared to what I've seen at other dance studios, offering more instruction on the technicalities of dancing and offering a wider range of dances. I would definitely recommend coming here!
Oct 17, 2024 · Dan DutcherI came to this dance studio hoping to pick up some basic salsa before an upcoming trip, but what I got instead was more like a car dealership experience. The "free lesson" is neither private nor tailored--it's a 30-minute session that barely scratches the surface of actual dance instruction. The instructor spent the whole time trying to teach us random dances, none of which were salsa, even though we repeatedly asked for salsa. The dance instruction itself was extremely basic--something you could easily learn in a few minutes on YouTube. There was no real demonstration of teaching ability, and instead of focusing on actual technique or counting steps, the instructor relied on odd phrases and constant high fives. To top it off, the music was barely audible, making it even harder to follow along. After the lesson, the manager swooped in to try and sell us a package of lessons for $600, speaking to us as if we were children. I understand that these free lessons are meant to draw people in, but to justify such a steep price, they need to offer more value in the initial experience. This was a complete waste of time.Save yourself the trouble--skip the free lesson and look elsewhere if you're serious about learning to dance.
