I am writing to relate my experiences with Yee’s Southern Lions Kung fu and lion dancing school. My son started classes when he was 12 and he is now 16. I am very happy with the progress he has made during his time in the school. He has developed confidence, independence, and has a strong motivation to make healthy choices around food and exercise. His Kung fu skills are improving at a steady rate. I feel that he is appropriately supported by the Sifu and he has benefitted from his leadership in the school. The atmosphere is one of friendship and fun, with community meals after performances and occasional community holiday parties. Parents are always welcome. The students feel that they are helping to keep an important cultural expression alive and that they have a responsibility to uphold traditions around lion dancing as well as to succeed in the physical and musical aspects of this performance activity. They are proud of their work, and rightfully so.I would recommend this school to anyone- for the Kung fu, the lion dancing, and for the fun and friendship that can be found there. - RZ S
