It's a place where tradition meets modern movement, fostering growth for individuals of all ages and skill levels.
VivaArts is more than just a place to learn a martial art; it's a hub for "Community + Culture in Motion." As highlighted by numerous long-standing members, the dedication of the coaches, particularly owner and instructor Jen (also known as Agua-Viva), is exceptional. Her approach is consistently described as "organized, thoughtful, and professional," creating an environment where students feel supported and inspired. For parents, the peace of mind that comes with knowing their children are under the guidance of instructors who are "incredibly good with kids" and adored by them, makes VivaArts an easy choice for extracurricular activities.
The beauty of Capoeira, as taught at VivaArts, lies in its multifaceted nature. It's a challenging physical discipline that significantly improves coordination and athleticism, yet it also offers a rich cultural and historical depth that engages the mind and spirit. For adults, the community aspect is particularly strong, with many discovering a "wonderful community of students passionate about learning all aspects of Capoeira (movements, music, culture, roda)." This collective passion and mutual support create a welcoming group that encourages everyone to "pitch in to support each other and the community." Jun 04, 2025 · Impala MarseilleJen (aka Agua-Viva) is the owner and an instructor for Capoeira and conditioning classes. She is organized, thoughtful, and professional in her approach to running this shared exercise space. She's also incredibly good with kids, the kids adore her and the classes are very popular.I mostly attend the adult capoeira classes. She's built a wonderful community of students passionate about learning all aspects of Capoeira (movements, music, culture, roda), who pitch in to support eachother and the community. If you are considering trying out Capoeira for yourself, or looking for a welcoming group, please come give us a try!
Dec 31, 2024 · Harrison W.Nice studio. I have been there just a few times. Good parking on and off site. The mirrors are enough for a small group, but for a packed class, you might not get mirror space. Needs to improve the floor -has several patches of masking tape. And needs to fix their lighting -it’s flickering so my choreographer teaches only with string lights that are not enough on cloudy days …which is most of the year in Seattle. All in, four stars. :)
Jun 11, 2024 · Carla BenavidesMy son takes capoeira classes here and the studio is amazing. Small, but clean and beautiful. The operator "Jen Hobbs" is a phenomenal teacher and very easy to talk to.
