The Pole Collective offers a diverse array of classes and services centered around pole dance and aerial fitness, designed to cater to all levels of experience, from absolute beginners to advanced practitioners.
Pole Dance Classes (Multi-Level): The core offering, with classes structured to accommodate different skill levels. Students can typically find:
- Beginner/Introductory Classes: Designed for those with no prior pole experience, focusing on fundamental grips, spins, climbs, and basic movements.
- Intermediate & Advanced Pole Classes: Progressing to more complex spins, transitions, inversions, and aerial tricks.
Specialty "Lab" Classes: The Pole Collective offers unique "Lab" formats that allow for deep dives into specific aspects of pole and movement:
- Pole Lab: An all-levels space for fine-tuning skills, polishing movements, refining transitions, and exploring the artistry within technique. It emphasizes "aerial movement embodiment" over just hoarding tricks.
- Flow Lab: Focuses on barefoot movement, shapes, lines, timing, and flow, connecting transitions with breath. It helps students find their unique style and build phrases that travel from pole to floor and across the floor.
- Inversions Lab: Dedicated to all levels of inversion play, from preparation to aerial inversions, shoulder stands, and handstands. It builds strength, confidence, and perspective through connected technique.
- Spin Lab: For those comfortable with spinning, this lab explores seated spins, inverted shapes, upright transitions, and dynamic entries and exits on the spinning pole.
- Ayesha Lab: A progressive class focusing on the challenging Ayesha move, breaking it down into grip-specific drills, entry progressions, and active spotting to build the necessary strength and spatial awareness.
Non-Pole & Conditioning Classes: While pole-centric, they also offer classes that support overall fitness crucial for pole dance, such as flexibility and conditioning.
Private Training: One-on-one lessons for personalized instruction, accelerated learning, or targeting specific skills. Semi-private options for 2-3 people are also available.
Pole Play Sessions (Open Practice): Dedicated open studio time where students can work independently on previously taught movements. An instructor is present for safety but does not teach or spot during this time.
Workshops & Intensives: Special events focusing on specific techniques, styles, or concepts, often taught by guest instructors or for deeper skill development.
Pole Parties: A popular offering for celebrations like bachelorette parties, birthdays, or general "girls' nights out," providing a fun and unique group experience.
Teacher Training: For aspiring instructors, The Pole Collective offers programs to "teach your truth," providing a refreshing approach to pole education.
The Pole Collective stands out in the San Diego fitness landscape with a unique combination of features and highlights that create an unparalleled experience for its students.
"Gorgeous" and "Beautiful Space": The studio itself is a significant highlight. Described as aesthetically pleasing and well-maintained, the environment contributes positively to the overall experience, making it an inviting and inspiring place to train and dance. The setting allows for a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
Exceptional and Empowering Instructors: A consistently praised feature is the quality of the teaching staff. Instructors are described as "amazing," "incredible," and highly professional. They excel at making classes accessible for "baby polerbears" (beginners) while challenging intermediate and advanced students. Their focus on "breath, timing, transitions, and texture" and on creating a "conversation between your body and your becoming" indicates a deep, holistic approach to movement.
Strong and Welcoming Community: The Pole Collective fosters an incredibly supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Reviews frequently mention the "love with the environment, instructors, & community," highlighting it as a place to "just exhale." This sense of belonging is a key differentiator, creating a non-intimidating space where individuals feel encouraged to learn and grow.
Unique "Lab" Class Formats: The studio's specialized "Lab" classes (Pole Lab, Flow Lab, Inversions Lab, Spin Lab, Ayesha Lab) offer a distinctive approach to training. These "all-levels playgrounds" allow students to "slow down, get curious, and refine what's ready to grow," focusing on technical precision, body intelligence, and artistry rather than just accumulating tricks. This innovative structure promotes deeper learning and skill mastery.
Emphasis on Embodied Movement: The philosophy extends beyond physical exertion, focusing on "movement embodiment" and the "artistry within your technique." This holistic approach connects the brain, body, breath, and soul, treating pole dance as "a revolutionary act of self love" and a pathway to "self-discovery."
Intimate Class Sizes: While not explicitly stated for all classes, the emphasis on quality over quantity and the personalized feel of classes suggest smaller group sizes, allowing instructors to provide more individualized attention and spotting. Some packages specify "intimate pole and aerial offerings that DO NOT feature student pole sharing."
Progressive and Safe Training: Particularly noted in Ayesha Lab descriptions, the studio emphasizes "progressive Ayesha work" that "minimizes the window for injury by slowly layering the necessary body mechanics over time," demonstrating a strong commitment to student safety and long-term development.

The Pole Collective Reviews
What a space! The studio is gorgeous, and the owner is such an incredible teacher. I could not recommend this pole dance studio enough!
Jun 08, 2025 · Angel RussellThe Pole Collective is such a beautiful space with the most amazing instructors. From being a baby polerbear here to instructing I have been oh so in love with the environment, instructors, & community. My favorite place to pole, dance, & just exhale.
Sep 24, 2024 · Tessa OliverThe instructors I had were great. I took 3 classes as part of the intro package, and I had fun on each class (Silks and Pole, intermediatepole, and $lut flow). Communication was a little strange? I wanted to book classes in advance, but then San Diego Pole Dancing Academy closed with no notice, and the Pole Collective didn't have schedule up until the last moment on their website. I wasn't even sure they were going to be open. However, I enjoyed the space, the instructors, and classes.
Mar 09, 2024 · Ana SThe Pole Collective is truly the most inviting, welcoming, and supportive space I have ever been in. Learning pole has been extremely outside of my comfort zone and I have no background that is similar - that said, I have felt nothing but welcome and supported in this space. I am so glad I started my pole journey with this community. Definitely join this community if you have ever considered starting pole.
Jan 25, 2023 · Sophia Rebecca-MarieI love this studio! There are such talented instructors here. The combination of body connection with an amazing workout in a beautiful boutique studio is a reason to return again and again. I'm so glad to have found this studio on a trip to San Diego!
