Nestled within the familiar setting of My Gym, The Dance Center creates a cohesive and supportive space where young dancers, from toddlers to pre-teens, can explore various dance styles without the pressure of intense competition.
What truly sets The Dance Center apart is its philosophy, consistently praised by long-standing families: it’s "about loving dance and learning in a fun environment," without the pressure to "take it too seriously" at a young age. This approach ensures that every child, regardless of their natural aptitude, feels welcomed, encouraged, and empowered to shine. Led by brilliant educators like Miss Anat and her dedicated team, the center has become a second home for many families, witnessing incredible progress in students' technique, appreciation for dance, and overall development. From their first "Tiny Tights" class to participating in "fantastic annual large-scale recitals," The Dance Center at My Gym offers a truly positive and enriching extracurricular experience for the children of Los Angeles.
The Dance Center is conveniently located at 1835 S La Cienega Blvd #255, Los Angeles, CA 90035, USA. This address places it within a dynamic and easily accessible part of West Los Angeles, making it a practical choice for families residing in surrounding neighborhoods such as Beverlywood, Pico-Robertson, Culver City, and even further afield. La Cienega Boulevard is a major north-south artery in Los Angeles, ensuring high visibility and straightforward navigation.
The studio's location within the La Cienega Plaza, on Level 2 (across from LA Fitness & Veda Yoga), offers additional convenience. Parking is a significant consideration in Los Angeles, and the presence of a parking garage entrance on 18th Street & Holt Ave, associated with the plaza, suggests accessible parking solutions for visitors. While specific details on free or paid parking should always be confirmed directly with the center, the availability of a dedicated garage is a considerable benefit. Furthermore, La Cienega Boulevard is well-served by numerous public transportation routes, including local bus lines, which provides an alternative for families who prefer not to drive. Despite being "far from our house" for some dedicated patrons, the quality of instruction and the positive environment make the commute worthwhile, highlighting the center's value to the local community.

The Dance Center located at My Gym Reviews
My daughter was 3 and enrolled in gymnastics at MyGym when she saw the Tiny Tights class at the Dance Center in the next room over and wanted to try it out. Four years later, through Little Starlets and now Intermediate, it's the only extracurricular activity (among many tried) that she has stuck with consistently. It's far from our house, but we'll keep coming because we love the teachers and the vibe here. There is no pressure to take it too seriously - at this age, it's about loving dance and learning in a fun environment. At the same time, they put on a great recital every event year that the kids practice diligently for. My daughter loves performing in it, and as soon as she steps off the stage, she starts looking forward to next year! I love that they tailor each class's performance dance to the number of kids enrolled instead of making them audition for a part - every child who participates in class is welcomed and encouraged to explore their love for dance and have an opportunity to shine!
May 21, 2024 · Kate ForrestAll three of our children have been active participants in the program at The Dance Center since they were each 3 years old. Our oldest is now 12 and continues to learn and grow through her classes, in her appreciation for dance and her connection to the center's talented and dedicated teachers. Our 9 year old and 6 year old are also making the Dance Center their home for movement, community, and creativity. Over the years we've spent a week or two during summers at various dance camps, prepared for fantastic annual large-scale recitals, and participated in a comprehensive zoom program during the pandemic. Miss Anat and her team are brilliant educators and artists who truly care about the development of every student. This place is the best!
Jul 15, 2021 · Jim BloomfieldMy family has been attending classes at The Dance Center for over 17 years. My eldest daughter, now in college, started dance classes there at 2 years old and continued through high-school and my youngest, going into 8th grade has done the same. Even I have taken dance classes there for almost 10 years! Having danced at several studios in LA, I can say that The Dance Center is one of the most down to earth and friendly environments I have been a part of. They offer skilled training in many areas of dance and if you are a serious student you can excel. But unlike other studios, which tend to be extremely competitive and often exclusionary, The Dance Center has something for everyone, even the less skilled but enthusiastic learner. It is a very well rounded studio that doesn't include the high drama I have witnessed at many other venues in LA. It keeps the fun in the experience at all skill levels.
