Studio 19 Dance Company Reviews
My daughter has been dancing at Studio 19 since they opened their doors in 2005. In fact, she danced her first year with Erin O'Hara at a different studio in 2004 and I thought she worked so well with my then toddler that we followed her as she opened Studio 19. As a family, we have had nothing but wonderful memories and experiences with the studio. The compassion and kindness of the staff, dancers, and families continues to inspire me year after year. I love that both my kids have found a passion for dance and lifelong friendships through the studio. I highly recommend Studio 19!!!
Jun 06, 2017 · Karen IMy daughter has been going to Studio 19 Dance Company for the past couple years. She absolutely loves it! I've seen a big growth in confidence and ability in such a short time, not to mention her love for dance and the studio itself. To say the teachers care about the students and like what they do is an understatement. They are the reason so many students keep coming back year after year. They are incredibly dedicated to each and every one of these kids. Their passion for what they do is obvious and they absolutely love and adore the students here. It's a family and you are treated as such, accepted and encouraged. Whether you've just started dancing there, or you're a graduating senior just finishing your last performance! It's not just about the competitions, conventions and performances (although the talent runs deep here), but it's about being together, celebrating life events, birthdays, Halloween and Christmas parties, special food days, spirit weeks and involvement with the community. I could go on, but for me the reason I keep bringing my daughter back is the look on her face when she arrives at the studio for class. It's the people who build her up and make her feel loved and supported.
Jun 06, 2017 · Sarah FlynnMy daughter has been dancing at Studio 19 for 8 years and my son has been dancing there for 4 years. In that time, the faculty, students, and parents have become our extended family. I have been impressed by their dance training which has resulted in numerous awards and accolades at competitions and conventions. However, even more impressive, is the life training that they receive. The faculty at Studio 19 teach their students to be good citizens, to give back to the community, to have compassion for others, and to be a good friend. Over the last 8 years, our studio family has dealt with cancer diagnosis and treatment, a terminally ill father, the sudden death of another father, bullying at school, suicide of a classmate at school, divorce, sexual harassment, and all the other drama that comes along with the teenage years. Through all of this, the teachers, students, and parents have supported each other in every way imaginable...Teachers organizing fundraisers and benefit performances, parents organizing carpools or meal schedules for families that are struggling, students coming together to comfort each other when someone is going through a hard time, Erin and Miranda hosting cookouts and sleepovers when they see that the students need a little pick-me-up. Erin and Miranda run more than just a dance studio. They provide a safe space for students and friends to express through dance, the joy, sadness, love, and pain that they hold inside. They are dance teachers, role models, counselors, and friends to each and every child that walks through the studio doors. They give their hearts and souls to their students and teach them that that is the way to treat others; to give of yourself to make the lives of those around you better in any way you can. My family has found a home with Studio 19 and we couldn't be happier.
Jun 06, 2017 · Kimberly AmicoI have been dancing for 16 years, and at Studio 19 since its opening in 2005. I have nothing but good things to say about this studio. I have been able to experience the studio's growth firsthand the past 12 years, and it is unbelievable. For such a young studio, we have managed to accomplish so much. From not being known at all, to placing first overall and being one of the most well-known and admired studios in the Rochester area. For those of us that have been a part of the studio for the majority of our lives, it has been a second home, a place to always feel welcomed with open arms, a place to freely be who you are without fear of being judged, and a place to meet friends who you eventually consider your family. For people that have never danced, or know nothing about the dance industry, it would be easy to say that "the teachers are mean", but for anybody who knows the industry and has been dancing for as long as I have, it is understood that tough love and constructive criticism is what pushes you to become a better dancer and a better person. It takes a lot of nerve to say that these instructors don't care for their students. It is because of their LOVE for each and every student and desire for them to be the best dancer they can be that they push us and motivate us the way they do. What people fail to notice is the amount of time, effort, and money that these instructors devote to their students. They put a piece of their heart into each and every class they teach. They put off time with their own families to spend time at the studio making sure their students feel confident with their dances. They get paid very little money, but they don't care because they are doing what they love, and inspiring students each and every day. Not to mention the time outside of the studio that these teachers spend with the kids, from hosting cookouts for the kids to staying up until 3 in the morning talking to the kids on the phone counseling them through break ups or losses of family and friends. These instructors care SO much for these kids. The students and parents that are a part of this studio are some of the most incredible people I have ever had the opportunity of knowing. I have made amazing friendships that will last a lifetime, and I have had so many role models that I have been able to look up to throughout my life. This studio has equipped me with everything I need to continue my career as a dancer and given me so many incredible opportunities that I would not have had otherwise. Sadly, this was my last year dancing at Studio 19 as I am graduating this year, but after being encouraged by my instructors and friends, I have decided to embrace my passion for dance and move to LA to become a professional dancer. There is no doubt in my mind that I would not be where I am today if it weren't for the love, guidance, and support that I have received in my time at Studio 19. I am eternally grateful for everything this studio has given me throughout the years. I wish I could give this studio more than 5 stars because they deserve it. Before coming to a conclusion, I encourage you to read all of the reviews in their entirety instead of focusing only on the negative ones. As you will notice, the positive reviews come from those who have been a part of Studio 19 for an extended amount of time, some even since it has opened, whereas those who had something bad to say had spent less than a year.
Jun 05, 2017 · Evelyn O'HaraI have been dancing at Studio 19 for 12 years and with the owner for 13 years. I have experienced nothing but love and accomplishments. We are a family at Studio 19 and I wouldn't want it any other way. My team and I have grown as dancers and people and we could not thank our teachers enough for that. We are continuously given opportunities like traveling out of NY State, dancing with professionals from Broadway, SYTYCD, Dancing with the Stars, Shaping Sound, etc., auditioning for life-changing scholarships, guest dancers coming in the studio for master classes and so much more. After each recital weekend and competition i am overwhelmed with texts from friends and family who came to watch wanting information on how to join our team. All year we are inspired to work our hardest and are pushed to be our best. At the same time we have team sleepovers, cookouts, parties, water balloon fights with our teachers. I appreciate everything that I have taken away from dancing at this studio. The tough love, the audition prep, the knowledge on how to go on to the professional world as a dancer. Being at the studio for so long, I have seen many people come and go, as it is normal, but i have also seen many people graduate and go on and do things like work as a dancer in Disney, dance in professional shows or work in LA as a dancer but always make sure to come back in time to watch recital or competition and tell us how much they miss dancing with our studio. I plan to do the same when I graduate but I wouldn't be able to without the support and education i gain from my teachers at Studio 19. Almost everyone who has gone to this studio for multiple years can agree that there is an endless supply of love, support, and family at Studio 19 eventhough there are many stressful, emotional moments that everyone has which is completely normal for a dance studio. The owners and teachers at the studio do everything they can to make you the best dancer you can be but also consol you with life. If I were to be going through something horrible I would go to one of my dance teachers for help. They work so hard to run the studio along with families of their own while getting paid very little. They participate at dance conventions, judge at dance competitions and dance in their own companies as well. I look up to these people and refer to them as my second moms. They are the most inspiring people in my life. I recommend Studio 19 because of the compassion, love and happiness displayed as well as the people that I have met that have become my best friends and the opportunities i wouldn't be able to get anywhere else. Studio 19 has shaped who I am today, as a 15 year old,and will continue to impact my life even after graduation. I would never want to go anywhere else.
