Where to begin…PSPA has been a part of my life for the last 30 years! When I began dancing at age 5 I immediately felt a part of the PSPA family. The staff at PSPA treats each dancer like a part of the family and welcomes every one with open arms! After graduating from high school I went on to become a part of the PSPA staff while going to college. It is so amazing to see some of the first students I taught at PSPA now return to become teachers!Since moving on from teaching dance, I started my own family! Now I bring my own daughter to dance every week! We have also brought along cousins and friends to join the PSPA family and everyone is very pleased! When my daughter started dance at age 2 she was incredibly shy and nervous. I am happy to report that now almost 5 years later she has come out of her shell at dance! She looks forward to dance class and has even joined the competition team! The staff and teachers at PSPA are amazing role models! - Christine Mahoney

Pembroke School of Performing Arts Introduce

Introduction / Overview

For over three decades, the Pembroke School of Performing Arts (PSPA) has been a beloved institution on the South Shore of Massachusetts, serving as far more than just a dance studio. Established in February 1988, PSPA has cultivated a reputation as a second home and a vibrant "family" for its students, from toddlers taking their first creative steps at 18 months to adults exploring new rhythms. The academy's foundational desire is to provide proper dance and theatre education, ensuring all children and adults have the opportunity to explore the world of performing arts in a positive, safe, and friendly environment.

PSPA's mission is clear: to promote the art of dance through programs that allow students to explore, discover, and create dance at a level appropriate for their age, skill, and desire. This student-centric approach is consistently highlighted by glowing testimonials, with many long-term students and their families emphasizing the welcoming atmosphere and the deep personal connections formed within the studio. The staff at PSPA are consistently praised as "amazing role models" who treat "each dancer like a part of the family," fostering an environment where shy children blossom into confident performers.

Beyond teaching technical dance skills, PSPA is dedicated to the holistic development of its students. Goals include developing kinesthetic intelligence, fostering self-expression, teaching creative problem-solving and risk-taking, and promoting positive self-esteem and confidence. Students are encouraged to balance their love for dance with other life commitments, learn the importance of community service, and grow into well-rounded individuals who appreciate the arts. This comprehensive approach ensures that PSPA not only trains beautiful dancers but also nurtures responsible, engaged members of the local community.
