I am writing to express my disappointment with the environment at Paula Aubrey School of Dance, particularly regarding the treatment my daughter, Alexis, has experienced. Over the years, it has become increasingly clear that the studio has fostered a toxic atmosphere, especially among certain staff members, including Veronica and Heather.Alexis has often felt uncomfortable and unwanted, and has witnessed unacceptable behavior towards herself and other dancers from adults in the studio. When we first enrolled her a decade ago, we were excited about joining a welcoming dance family. Unfortunately, it seems that if a dancer does not fit a specific mold that the teachers expect, they are marginalized and bullied. As a parent, my priority is Alexis’s mental health and happiness. I believe that while discipline and instruction are important, they should always be delivered with respect and kindness. We had hoped for positive changes within the studio, but it appears that these changes are not forthcoming.I urge the management to reflect on these issues, as it is crucial for the well-being of all dancers to feel supported and valued in their artistic pursuits. - Ron Parks
