New Jersey Ballet Introduce
For nearly seven decades, the New Jersey Ballet has stood as a pillar of artistic excellence and a cornerstone of the performing arts landscape in New Jersey. Founded in 1958 by native New Jerseyan Carolyn Clark and her fellow dancer, George Tomal, this esteemed institution has grown from its humble beginnings to become a globally recognized name in the world of dance. More than just a ballet company, New Jersey Ballet also operates the New Jersey School of Ballet, providing unparalleled dance education for thousands of students, from aspiring professionals to adults looking to enjoy an excellent form of exercise. Located in Florham Park, it offers a vibrant community where the art of ballet is celebrated, cultivated, and shared with audiences across the state and beyond.
The mission of New Jersey Ballet is clear and compelling: "to enrich lives by promoting, preserving, and innovating the art of ballet through performances, operation of a dance school, and programming that promotes inclusiveness, accessibility, and community." This dedication to both performance and education is evident in the heartfelt testimonials from their students and their families. One grateful dancer shared, "I have had the honor of being a part of your lovely ballet community for this 2022-2023 season and I am very grateful for the new experience and all the opportunities I had as a dancer. The guidance, support, knowledge and love I received from the teachers were very important to my growth as an artist. Thank you so much!" This speaks to the nurturing environment and the profound impact the instructors have on their students' artistic journeys.
Another proud parent recounted their 10-year-old daughter's journey, who dreams of being a prima ballerina: "I always want to sing her up for New Jersey Ballet, and she started this year finally. She loves the classes and the interaction with her teachers. She is also taking Jazz, contemporary, hip hop. She is very excited to start her point classes." The parent's joy is palpable: "When I see her dancing make me so happy and proud." This multi-faceted approach, encompassing various dance styles beyond classical ballet, allows for well-rounded development. The consistent responsiveness of the staff, as highlighted by the parent ("Every time I called or email them Toni always got back to me"), further reinforces the professional and supportive atmosphere that makes New Jersey Ballet a cherished institution in the Garden State. It's no wonder the young aspiring ballerina declared, "My daughter said that she will be at NJ Ballet for a long time."
New Jersey Ballet is prominently located at 7-9 Vreeland Rd, Florham Park, NJ 07932, USA. This address places the premier ballet institution within Morris County, making it a convenient and accessible destination for dance students and enthusiasts across a wide area of Northern and Central New Jersey. Florham Park itself is a well-regarded community, known for its tranquil suburban feel yet excellent connectivity to major thoroughfares.
For those traveling by car, the location on Vreeland Road offers straightforward access. Florham Park is well-served by a network of state routes and county roads that connect easily to major highways such as I-287, US Route 24, and US Route 10. This ensures relatively smooth commutes from neighboring towns like Madison, Chatham, Livingston, Morristown, and further afield. While direct bus routes to the immediate vicinity might vary, nearby NJ Transit commuter rail stations, such as those in Madison or Chatham (on the Morris & Essex Line), are within a reasonable driving distance (approximately 10-12 minutes). From these stations, a short taxi or ride-share service could connect individuals to the studio. Furthermore, for those commuting from further distances, the proximity to major airports like Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) within a 30-minute drive, highlights its regional significance and ease of access for visiting artists or students from beyond the immediate New Jersey area. Oct 21, 2020 路 Lily BagliUpdated review: after years working with NJB we love them even more. Truly a wonderful school that will teach you dance.Original review: Wonderful school. One of the best dance schools in the region. They offer many different classes so that, depending upon your commitment and level of experience, you can get the appropriate experience for your purpose.
Sep 26, 2023 路 Katherine Herbert-BergerI highly recommend any and every class at New Jersey Ballet Company and School for adult beginners like myself (male adult btw), adults who have ballet experience but have not taken classes in several years or if your new and want to learn. The staff does a great job keeping everyone safe. The NJBCS maintains strict safety protocols and surpass the recommended guidance鈥檚. Everything from temperature checks, masks and properly marked corridors with social distancing awareness signage. The rooms are cleaned thoroughly between classes and dancers are allowed in after they have been sanitized. The studios are huge, high ceilings, well ventilated and plenty of space is given between dancers. I can鈥檛 say enough as to how welcoming everyone is! I do hope that more people begin coming back to in person classes.
Oct 27, 2020 路 TRUST NO ONE !Our 10 year old has been a student at the school for 5 years. We have seen and watch her grow tremendously over the years not just in ballet, but in her poise, work ethic and confidence. We recently started our 5 year old daughter as well. The staff is amazing, the teachers professional and meticulous and the facilities foster a great environment for learning. This is a school for students who want to learn ballet which also helps them in many aspects of school and life.
