My daughter Samyukhtha has already given 5 star rating for Kaladhaara Arts Academy here. My younger daughter Sasmitha is also currently learning Bharathanatyam at this academy for the last 2 years. Don’t look beyond Kaladhaara if you really want your kid(s) to learn & master this art form and also develop important life skills like dedication, determination and discipline.My daughter Samyukhtha completed her Arangetram on 3rd September 2022. She is a freshman at UCLA this year. Two weeks back, she auditioned for UCLA’s Bharatnatyam club Taara and got selected to participate in nationwide competitions.I am providing below the excerpt of the thank you note our family wrote for Mathura and Kaladhaara for Samyukhtha’s Arangetram. I don't think if I can write a new review that is more honest than this."First, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Samyukhtha’s Guru, Shrimathi. Mathura Viswanathan. We couldn’t have asked for a better Guru to train our daughter in this art form. After Samyukhtha joined Kaladhaara to learn Bharatanatyam, within a month or so, my wife somehow realized that Mathura would be the best teacher for our daughter. But I am not as bright as my wife. I got off on the wrong foot with Mathura and bombarded her inbox with a lot of emails asking for explanations for the first summer camp expenses.My friends sitting here know that my financial habits are not so good. But sometimes when I feel the money crunch, I tend to become stingy, switch to a quirky mode fast and start questioning all the expenses. But Mathura took the time and patiently replied to all my emails in length. Later, I realized it was not her mistake, felt so bad for sending her all those emails and apologized to her in person. But those communications helped me to understand a few things about her - her professionalism, dedication, passion and love for this art form.If I have to say something about Mathura in my daughter’s own words, “Mathura aunty is a perfectionist! She won’t let us relax till we get it right. I found it very difficult in the beginning. But now, when I watch some kids dance incorrectly, I myself see the difference and feel the urge to correct their posture, coordination etc.” Yes, she quickly learnt that her Guru means business and got attuned to Mathura's expectations.Years flew by quickly. When talks about Samyukhtha’s Arangetram surfaced last year, I told my wife that I would rather pay the first year college fee for my daughter with the Arangetram expense. Yes, single income family problems. But this is what Mathura said - “Samyukhtha is one of my best students. If you guys don’t want to do her Arangetram, then I’ll do it myself. I’ll consider that as a scholarship that I give to a good student of my dance academy”. It would be unfair on our part if we let her do our daughter’s Arangetram. So, we decided to do it ourselves.Mathura, we can’t thank you enough for all that you have given to Samyukhtha. Besides imparting the best of Bharatanatyam skills, you have inculcated a sense of commitment, determination & dedication and instilled in her immense passion & love for this art form. We are the witnesses of my daughter how she grown in under guidance of Mathura garu and Anu garu,..few years back we were in dilema because of my daughter always looking for new songs with challenging skills , after my reserach finally joined in Kaladhara.From day 1 to till day , my daughter is so happy and growing up as very talent dancer in classical way.. We went many programs observed Guru Mathura garu , how she made pancha bhuthaalu in classical art in Cosmic element event small example for her talent and her guidance teachers , all are doing with very commitment, talented, passionate all together.. Old is Gold always , even for old songs now doing new traditional ways.. ex: nowdays movie Directors taking old puranas concepts making as per current trend.. same ways like classical art form is live today because of all these gurus , especially we saw Mrs. Mathura garu with that talent .. This review has been long overdue, and I've been wanting to share it ever since my daughter's arangetram. Both of my girls had an incredible experience learning dance at Kaladhaara Dance School. Mathura's personal and professional guidance played an indispensable role in preparing my children for their debut performance in Aug 2023. The faculty members were not only highly skilled but also warm and friendly, and their teaching was truly exceptional. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mathura and the entire team for nurturing my children in accomplished dancers. I'm more than willing to contribute as a parent volunteer in the future. Me and my daughter(s) are students of Kaladhaara.My experience with dance goes way back from childhood, and I had the constant urge to get back in touch even after many years.My experience with Kaladhaara started with sac adavu meet ups. which is One of the nicest initiative of Kaladhaara where a group of like-minded dancers meet bi-monthly on a weekend morning to revisit the foundation, technique and learn something new every time. This approach is similar to a drop-in dance class. Having attended this meet up helped me understand the highly skilled teachers, how they prepared for each session dedicatedly and imparted their knowledge to the enthusiasts who attended the 90 minute session for mere 5$. While not being a full time student, I was also given opportunities to perform on stage during occasions and annual events. To name a few I enjoyed performing for one of the classic compositions Raas leela, Beautifully and skillfully choreographed by Smt Mathura Viswanathan. The effective and enjoyable practice sessions completely motivated me to take up dancing full time with Kaladhaara dance academy.About Smt Mathura ViswanathanSmt Mathura Viswanathan is a highly passionate teacher. I highly look up to her and am always awe inspired by the wealth of knowledge she has and wants to pass down to the community of budding dancers.With great positivity and love for dance, Mathura always ensure that her student needs are effectively fulfilled right from the starting stages to the performance levels. She firmly believes that foundation is the key for every child or adult who is starting their dance career.She gauges the level of difficulty for the performance based on capability and progress throughout the practice session thus creating a positive environment to reinforce willingness to learn and interest of every student.She constantly reminds the students about the steps they have overlooked and steps where they have shown improvement.
