This review is long overdue! I have been dancing with Brooklyn Ballet through their adult program for a while now and could not be happier. The instructors are truly amazing, and passionate about what they do. And I've experienced programs where there isn't much emphasis on the adult program because it's seen as just a quick little "workout". But at BB, you really are given the best of the best; and it's not treated as a "workout", you really are training. Classes are thorough, instructors are committed and there's so much attention given during classes. I've taken classes with Tristan, Audrey, Valentina, Taylor, Mimi, Judea, Brandon, and this past semester with Yana (who I ADORE !!!) and they all are AMAZING! Only thing I wish is that the classes were longer lol. - Tiffany Ketant

Brooklyn Ballet Introduce

For New Yorkers, the cultural tapestry of the city is woven with diverse threads, and among the most exquisite is the art of ballet. Nestled in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Ballet stands as a distinguished point of interest, offering not just world-class dance instruction but also captivating performances that enrich the local artistic landscape. More than just a dance school, it's a dynamic hub where passion for movement thrives, welcoming both aspiring dancers of all ages and audiences eager to experience the beauty of classical and contemporary ballet. If you're a local seeking a genuine engagement with the ballet world, whether through active participation or passive enjoyment, Brooklyn Ballet offers an unparalleled experience right here in your backyard.

Brooklyn Ballet is a professional not-for-profit dance company dedicated to artistic excellence, education, and community engagement. Since its founding in February 2002 by Artistic Director Lynn Parkerson, it has been a pioneering force, bringing a contemporary vision to the treasured art form of ballet. What truly sets it apart for locals is its commitment to reflecting Brooklyn's diverse communities, creating new ballets that challenge conventions and defy expectations through multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural approaches. This overview will guide you through its offerings, accessibility, unique features, and why it's a cherished cultural asset for the residents of New York City.

Location and Accessibility

The strategic location of Brooklyn Ballet is a significant advantage for New Yorkers looking to engage with this esteemed institution. Situated at 160 Schermerhorn St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA, the studio is at the nexus of several vibrant Brooklyn neighborhoods, including Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, and Fort Greene, making it highly accessible from across the city.

One of Brooklyn Ballet's greatest assets is its exceptional connectivity via public transportation. For subway riders, the options are plentiful. The Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts station (A, C, G trains) is practically at its doorstep, mere minutes away. The Hoyt St station (2, 3 trains) is also just a short walk, as are the Jay St-Metrotech station (F, N, Q, R, B, D trains) and Borough Hall (4, 5 trains). This extensive network means that whether you're coming from Manhattan, Queens, or other parts of Brooklyn, a direct and convenient subway route is likely available.

Bus services further enhance accessibility, with numerous lines stopping within a few blocks of the studio, including the B38, B52, B25, B26, B61, B65, B67, B41, and B103 routes. This makes it easy for those preferring bus travel or coming from areas not directly served by subway lines. For those who drive, while street parking in this busy part of Brooklyn can be challenging, there are several parking garages located within walking distance, offering convenient options for visitors. The neighborhood itself is a bustling urban hub, surrounded by other cultural institutions, dining options, and shops, making a visit to Brooklyn Ballet part of a broader exploration of downtown Brooklyn. Its central and well-connected location truly makes it a hassle-free destination for all New Yorkers.
