Backstage Dance Company Reviews
THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY!!! I’m very disappointed with this dance academy. From the beginning, it was clear that their main focus is money—not the kids’ growth or development. The front desk staff is extremely unprofessional including the owner and seems more trained in sales tactics than in customer service . They’re quick to push packages and fees, but slow to address real concerns. They hire very young, inexperienced instructors—mostly high school students—who don’t seem qualified to teach or manage a class effectively. My daughter didn’t learn proper technique or gain any real dance skills. Most of the time, she was just copying random moves that could easily be found on YouTube. It felt more like daycare with music than a serious dance program. This place seriously lacks values, structure, and professionalism. I would not recommend it to any parent who’s truly looking for their child to grow in dance or discipline.
May 15, 2025 · Cindy buryI was really disappointed with my experience at this dance studio. The staff, and especially the owner, were rude and dismissive when we tried to share our concerns. We felt completely unheard and unwelcome. Customer feedback should be valued, but unfortunately, that was not the case here. I hope they work on improving their communication and customer service in the future. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this studio.
May 09, 2025 · Danelle MirandaTo start I want to say, I rarely complain about services however, the level of disrespect that was demonstrated at Backstage Dance Company was applauding. When attempting to address my concerns, I was cut off and met with dismissive comments such as “this is how we have done it for 20 years” and you shouldn’t be complaining because all of this is in the handbook”? It felt like because we opted out of the recital, (which we were rudely informed 99.9% of family do), we didn’t matter anymore. Class time was used once for custom fitting and another hair and makeup. I can own my tone was less then positive following these comments, however my concerned weren’t even verbalized before the disrespect started.I understand we all have businesses to run and policies to help us operate. I can accept that. My expectation is that we could do it with respect and a little more kindness. For those of you who I have previously recommended this dance studio too, I apologize if you have had to endure such treatment. Our daughter‘s teacher was great, however, with leadership like this, we can no longer support or recommend this company moving forward.
May 16, 2025 · Carrie FairJust moved to Knoxville from Los Angeles . I was apprehensive to find a dance studio for my daughter who has danced at some of the best studios in LA but Talia, and the entire team at backstage dance were so welcoming, accommodating and over the top hospitable to my daughter. My daughter is in love with all her classes and teachers. Backstage dance is now her favorite studio, more than any of the most reputable studios she's danced at in LA. We highly recommend this to any serious dancers looking for a serious dance studio.
Nov 12, 2023 · Vanessa PavanBe very careful when signing up for their classes. When you call for information and sign a child up, they don’t tell you that you have to send in a written letter in order to be withdrawn. Why? So they can get free money. They know most people don’t read the website so hey why mention it.
