Anita's Dance Center Reviews
My granddaughter had her 6th birthday party at Anita’s and it was spectacular! Felicity guided the kids in many dances and games. The decorations were perfect! We even got a performance from a class. Highly recommend!
May 07, 2025 · geri rhyneAnita's Dance Center has been a transformational place for my daughter and family in general. This is an institution in the community that raises everything up to another level. We are so lucky to have access to arts in this way and not to mention the breath of talent, organization and national exposure. I would highly recommend Anita's Dance Center to any serious dancers as well as anyone who is curious but unsure. I know that no matter what they will walk away with more than they put in. From management to the staff to the students, I can't say enough about this place!
Feb 05, 2025 · Joe StamborskiI’m going to try writing an honest review without seeming too harsh because this did in some ways meet our families needs as first time dance participants. My daughter is 3yrs and she took the mommy and me class. Anita’s is good for first time dancers. The pay as you go aspect is definitely appealing if you don’t know if your child is going to enjoy dance or not. The classes are fun, but also not structured or hands on. This could be exactly what you’re looking for if your desire is to have your kids burn off energy. If your goal is to actually have your child knowing basic ballet moves like first or second potion, you will be disappointed. My child absolutely loved her teacher, as did I, but I was a little frustrated that disruptive kids who had very little interest in learning the dance and participating were allowed to keep coming week after week. 2 weeks into the class you have to decide if your child will be in the recital or not. You pay a recital fee, costume fee, and have to purchase tickets to attend. This is all normal and fine. However, for all the cost involved that does add up to for us to $168 plus the $7.25 weekly to attend the 30 minute class, I expect my child to be as ready as possible before getting on stage. My child only knew her dance because I recorded it and taught her myself at home throughout the week. The class is very disorganized and misbehaved kids are allowed to keep coming back even when they take away from dance time. The girls that were in the recital never got to properly learn their dance because misbehaved kids weren’t wanting to participate and it just ended up being chaotic. The dance itself also changed about 4 times and it was very hard for such young minds to follow because they were never given the chance to develop muscle memory and know their parts. I thought this was just my daughter’s class and gave it a pass because their teacher suffered an injury and they needed a sub for a couple weeks. The sub did not know the parts to the dance and they didn’t seem to think it mattered if they didn’t teach the dance for that time. Thankfully me along with other moms spoke up and made it clear we thought they needed to know they steps and would like someone to figure out the steps for them. Sadly, after attending the recital, it was clear none of the dancers under the age of 10 knew their parts. 8 year olds weren’t able to do a proper plié. I’ve attended good recitals and kids who are being taught well will look forward and know their steps. Every group that danced at the recital had to look to the side of the stage to try and follow their teacher hiding behind the curtain. It was cute as can be because kids are just cute and yes, it is about having fun, but also these kids are capable of so much more and deserve classes with more structure and hands on training. I did have the opportunity to attend a different studio with my daughter where I saw a night a day difference. My daughter left knowing how to do two new moves and also was so excited they let her use the barre. She felt like she was actually being taught ballet which is what she wanted. Again, it’s about the kids having fun and I believe that can be achieved in a structured class or unstructured class. If you want your child to have fun with other kids and burn off energy for a low cost pay as you go class, this is perfect as long as you don’t also invest in the recital. However, if you want your child to learn proper dance technique even from a young age, this is not the place. I would like to add though that my daughter’s teacher was lovely and while she was away recovering, my child did miss her and ask about her a lot. I believe she is actually a good teacher that probably has to follow how the company operates and she’s doing her job the best she can. Clearly Anita’s has worked for many families, but now that I know my daughter loves ballet and is actually focused and well behaved enough and is capable of more, I will be sending her elsewhere.
Jun 11, 2024 · Jessica SutherlandWe are second generation students at Anita's Dance Center. My sister was a student from 1994 - 2006. I have two daughters that began dancing in 2010 & 2013. Anita and her staff are awesome and very professional. Dance is a very expensive hobby and the prices at Anita's are very reasonable. The studio is very spacious, clean and well decorated. Recitals are very professionally done and every year there are many opportunities to perform including the Nutcracker, Friends & Family Show, Charity Show, as well as the regular recitals, parades and sporting events. Anita's also has a world class competition team that competes around the country that both my daughters are members. If you have a child that wants to dance...Anita's Dance Center is the place to go. We love it!!
Apr 14, 2022 · Cameron KapplI would reccomend Anita's Dance Center to anyone looking to enroll their child in dance classes!! First, Miss Anita is extremely personable and constantly strives to connect with the families who attend her dance center! Second, Anita's Dance Center provides a safe and nurturing environment in which dancers of all ages are welcomed! Additionally, my daughter received an award, from her dance teachers, that recognized her exceptional listening skills, attendance, and improvement in dance knowledge. This emphasis on positive reinforcement is yet another reason I would encourage anyone to attend Anita's Dance Center! I also love Anita's Dance Center because family members are able to stay at the dance center during their child's dance classes. This transparency provides a sense of safety and confidence in the staff at this center! Again, I HIGHLY reccomend Anita's Dance Center to everyone!!
