Academie de Ballet & Dance Center distinguishes itself through several key features and highlights that resonate with many families in the local community. A prominent highlight, frequently praised by long-term patrons, is the presence of "highly skilled teachers and staff." These instructors are often seen not just as dance educators but also as "fantastic role models for young women," emphasizing the academy's commitment to holistic development beyond just dance technique. This focus on positive mentorship and character building is a significant draw for parents seeking a wholesome environment for their children.
Another highly appreciated feature, particularly by parents, is the academy's dedication to "modest costumes" and ensuring that "all music and dance movements are appropriate for all ages." In an era where dance attire and choreography can sometimes be a concern for families, this commitment to age-appropriateness provides a sense of trust and comfort. It underscores the academy's values-driven approach, aligning with the preferences of many local families who prioritize a conservative and respectful learning atmosphere for their children.
Furthermore, the sentiment that the studio becomes a "second home" for students, as expressed by one parent whose daughters have attended for several years, speaks volumes about the community and nurturing environment fostered within the academy. This indicates a strong sense of belonging and camaraderie among students and staff, which is vital for long-term engagement and enjoyment in any extracurricular activity.
However, it is also important to acknowledge recent feedback that highlights operational challenges, specifically regarding a "new employee" and a perceived "absence of professionalism, Christian guidance, and integrity" that has led some families to discontinue their involvement. While this recent criticism stands in contrast to the decades of positive operations, it suggests that the academy has recently faced some internal adjustments affecting the student and parent experience for some. Nevertheless, the historical and continuing positive feedback from a large segment of its clientele underscores its foundational strengths in instruction and its commitment to a family-friendly dance environment, which remain core to its identity for many.

Academie de Ballet & Dance Center Reviews
3-1-25 update: The new employee has added a painstakingly large wrench in the atmosphere of this once enjoyable studio. Person after person, email after email…what will it take to get this woman OUT?After decades of spirited and well-managed operations, I lament the absence of professionalism, Christian guidance, and integrity at Academie de Ballet & Dance Center, resulting in my family's decision to discontinue our involvement and warning others to reassess their engagement.
Mar 02, 2025 · Madelynn DeMilleWe love ABD! It has highly skilled teachers and staff; all of whom are fantastic role models for young women. My daughters have been attending for several years and it is a second home for them. I so appreciate the modest costumes and can trust that all music and dance movements are appropriate for all ages. Recommend highly!!
Jan 31, 2023 · Rachel HaggDaughter has been attending ADB since 2011, staff are great, no pressure for attaining point and instructors always work with children an parents on how to improve. We are thankful that the academy continues to grow an improve. Truly blessed to have our daughter attend and dance for the one true Lord. Thank you.
Jun 20, 2018 · joshinu14At the time I danced with ADB there was a pervasive and toxic culture about unhealthy body standards. Girls who weren’t rail thin were considered “not serious enough” about dance. Midsize dancers who were skilled and talented were overlooked for roles consistently. Most of the teachers are really skilled. I learned a lot from them. Some of them could be very harsh, and a couple of them downright cruel at times. When I broke my foot during a summer intensive I was ignored and left behind in the classroom with zero help from teachers. I crawled out of the building by myself (at age 14) and called a friend to come get me and take me to the ER.Overall, I wouldn’t recommend ADB for those who are looking for an inclusive, body-positive environment.
