The Connection Introduce
For families in Summit and the surrounding communities of New Jersey, finding a central hub that caters to the diverse needs of every family member, from the youngest learners to active seniors, is an invaluable asset. The Connection, located in Summit, NJ, stands as just such a place. This esteemed non-profit organization is a true community cornerstone, dedicated to enhancing lives and fostering a strong sense of belonging. While it offers a wide array of programs spanning fitness, recreation, and social services, its commitment to early childhood development, including a certified preschool, makes it an indispensable resource for New Jersey parents looking for quality care and education for their little ones.
The Connection is renowned for its comprehensive offerings, but its preschool program holds a special place for many families. Designed with flexibility in mind, the certified preschool runs Monday through Friday, with options for half-day or extended day programs (8:45 am – 12:30 pm or 2:30 pm). Led by a certified teacher and enthusiastic staff, the program aims to help children develop the habits, attitudes, and skills necessary to become active and successful learners. It’s an environment where preschoolers are "engaged in their learning" through frequent transitions and a thoughtfully designed curriculum. As one highly satisfied parent put it, "This program is thoughtfully designed, and it's clear that the staff is passionate about fostering both academic and personal growth in the children. I highly recommend The Connection Preschool for any family looking for a well-rounded and loving educational experience for their little ones!"
Beyond the preschool, the entire facility of The Connection radiates a "very family friendly environment." Long-time members, like one who has been attending for over 10 years, attest to its exceptional value and community spirit, stating, "The staff are warm and friendly, and the facilities are clean... It is by far the best value for the money. The name, The Connection, lives up to its name, as I have met so many wonderful people there throughout the years." This sentiment of warmth, cleanliness, and community is a recurring theme, highlighting the organization's success in creating a welcoming space where individuals feel connected and supported. While one review mentioned parking challenges due to limited spots, the overall positive experience and the breadth of services offered consistently outweigh minor inconveniences, reinforcing The Connection's status as a vital part of the Summit community.
The Connection is conveniently situated at 79 Maple St, Summit, NJ 07901, USA. This central location in the charming and accessible town of Summit makes it a convenient destination for residents not only within Summit but also from neighboring communities in Union, Essex, and Morris Counties, including Chatham, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, and Millburn. Maple Street is a well-known local thoroughfare, ensuring that the facility is easy to locate for those traveling by car.
For drivers, The Connection offers a dedicated parking lot, which is a significant amenity in a bustling downtown area. While one review noted that parking can sometimes be limited, particularly during peak hours, the availability of on-site parking is still a considerable advantage. Additionally, metered on-street parking may be available in the vicinity, providing alternative options. Its location within downtown Summit also means it's often within walking distance or a very short drive from other local amenities, allowing members to potentially combine errands, although users are advised to be mindful of parking regulations to avoid towing.

The Summit train station, serviced by NJ Transit's Morristown Line and Gladstone Branch, is within a reasonable walking distance from the facility. This makes it accessible for individuals commuting from other towns along these train lines or even from New York City (via transfer at Newark Broad Street or Secaucus Junction). The Connection Reviews
Very family friendly environment. The staff are warm and friendly, and the facilities are clean. The class offerings from yoga to Zumba to gymnastics to dance to swimming to ESL and kids programs are great. I go at least 5 days a week I have been a member for over 10 years. It is by far the best value for the money. The name, The Connection, lives up to its name, as I have met so many wonderful people there throughout the years.
Sep 13, 2024 · Michael PriddyA mixed review: many staff are nice and caring people who are pleasant to work with, such as the pool lifeguards and the weight room training staff. A problem is parking: there are a limited number of spots, and so users can not combine errands, such as using the facilities and then, say, visiting the Summit library. They will tow your car in a jiffy if that happens.
Apr 29, 2024 · Thomas SulcerThe Connection after school care program during pandemic is 5 stars and higher !!! Our daughter is safely bussed from school daily. Staff makes sure children are logged on in time for remote learning. Staff is very friendly and engaging when remote learning is over. Our daughter never wants to be picked up. Staff keeps the facility very clean and very safe for the children.
Dec 18, 2020 · Babs VazA great community. When I was an Au Pair in 2014 I was member. Normally I used to go to the gym and English classes to improve it. They helped me a lot, I have really good memories from the senior teachers, they were lovely. Thanks!
Apr 07, 2022 · María SWe have a very bad experience with them, my son used to swim very well but after moving from California everything changed for him. At the first session of swimming lesson he started crying instead of understanding him the teachers pushed him back to the little kids class after second session I was told please don't bring him. The teachers are not well behaved and understanding. I do not recommend this place.
