South Mountain Performing Arts Reviews
We love this dance studio! My daughter is 2, and Michael is wonderful with her. The whole staff is friendly, patient, and really great with the kids. Every class is fun and welcoming, and it’s amazing to see how much confidence she’s already gained. Highly recommend for little ones just starting out!
Jun 18, 2025 · Cynthia PeizWe have found our dance FAMILY at SMPA! Every teacher and employee we have interacted with have been not only professional, but also personable and caring. My 2 year old started in the Mommy & Me class in the fall 2024, and the staff have been great working with such little personalities! We are now enrolled in two classes, still a mommy & me, but also a Tots Combo where she dances on her own. The patience and care is unmatched, but the fact that they also focus on technical skill, and growth of their dancers is what brought us in and keep us hooked! There are plenty of other dance studios in the community, but if you are looking for one that has a first name basis while also excelling in technical skill and many course options SMPA is the place to be!
Feb 11, 2025 · Boheme GraceThe staff is welcoming, professional, and passionate about the arts. The instructors are incredible with students of all ages. You can tell they genuinely care about growth, confidence, and creativity. The facility is clean and organized. Performances are well put together with talent and hard work. The only “con” is that parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours, but that’s a small tradeoff for such a quality experience.Highly recommend for anyone looking to grow in dance, theater, or music.
Jul 02, 2025 · Marc SandersI initially spoke with Michael when signing my niece up for classes at South Mountain Performing Arts, and everything started off very positively. He was helpful and welcoming, and I felt confident enrolling my niece based on that experience. However, after just a few classes, my niece showed a clear lack of interest in continuing. I reached out to the staff and made multiple attempts to contact Michael to inquire about a refund or at least a credit for the fees we paid. These included the $45 recital fee, a dress fee that was still unclear at the time of our conversation, and the monthly tuition. I completely understand that fees are outlined in the contract, and I respect that. My concern is that many of these fees weren’t communicated verbally during enrollment, which would have been helpful.I even went in person to try and speak with someone, left a message with the staff, and followed up with several phone calls. Despite all my efforts, I never received a single call or email back. I would have been okay if the answer was simply “no refund,” but the lack of any communication at all is what felt most disappointing. It’s unfortunate to leave this review because my initial interaction was so positive. However, I feel it’s necessary to share my experience. If you’re considering enrolling, I would strongly recommend asking about all fees up front and clarifying the refund policy, just in case things don’t work out.
Jun 17, 2025 · Adri MMr.Michael is excellent with the kids in dance class. The way he keeps their attention and does their routine at the same time seems almost impossible at this age. We have a 3 and 4 year old in his class and I’m grateful to see that even the wiggly kids that can’t follow directions get spoken to without a harsh tone but instead corrected by redirection and no hard feelings. I would definitely recommend this class. Our kids love it!
