Space 550 Introduce
For dance enthusiasts and those looking for an energetic and authentic Latin night out in the California Bay Area, Space 550 in San Francisco stands out as a vibrant and highly recommended destination. More than just a nightclub, Space 550 has cemented its reputation as a dedicated dance venue, particularly celebrated for its lively salsa, bachata, and cumbia nights. This expansive establishment caters to a wide spectrum of dancers, from absolute beginners taking their first steps to seasoned pros gracing the dance floor with intricate moves.
What truly sets Space 550 apart is its commitment to fostering a dynamic social dancing environment. It's a place where the rhythms of Latin music fill multiple rooms, inviting a large and enthusiastic crowd to connect through movement. Whether you're looking to learn new steps, practice your skills, or simply immerse yourself in the infectious energy of Latin dance, Space 550 offers an experience that is both accessible and exhilarating. The venue is well-known for hosting "Dance Fridays," a popular weekly event that brings together hundreds of dancers, creating a bustling and festive atmosphere.
The energy at Space 550 is palpable, drawing between 350 to 400 dancers on a typical night, showcasing a diverse community united by a shared love for Latin dance. This high attendance ensures that there are "plenty of people want to dance," making it easy to find a partner and enjoy the night. The club's design, featuring multiple distinct dance rooms, further enhances the experience, allowing dancers to choose their preferred style and intensity. This thoughtful layout ensures that both beginners and advanced dancers can find their rhythm and space to shine.
While the venue primarily serves as a dance club that also serves alcohol, it's worth noting the feedback regarding water availability. Some past reviews mention a lack of free tap water, which is an important consideration for dancers staying hydrated during extended periods of activity. It is always advisable for patrons to plan accordingly, perhaps by purchasing bottled water or clarifying the current water policy directly with the venue upon arrival, to ensure a comfortable and safe experience throughout the night.
Despite this, the overwhelming sentiment from patrons highlights the venue's positive attributes: its excellent dance floors, the sheer volume of eager dancers, and the overall enjoyable atmosphere. Space 550 consistently receives high recommendations from those who frequent its Latin dance nights, solidifying its status as a must-visit for anyone in San Francisco looking to experience the joy of salsa, bachata, and cumbia.
Space 550 is located at 550 Barneveld Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124, USA. This address places it within a more industrial or commercial area of San Francisco, which often translates to better accessibility and less residential congestion compared to downtown areas. While it may not be in the immediate vicinity of San Francisco's most popular tourist "haunts" or central nightlife districts, its location offers specific advantages for its patrons.
One significant benefit, as noted by local users, is the availability of "plenty of street parking." This is a considerable convenience in a city where parking can often be a challenge, allowing dancers to arrive with less stress and more ease. While the neighborhood might be perceived by some as not being a "safe neighborhood," this statement from a customer review is a subjective assessment and it is always advisable for individuals to exercise standard urban safety precautions when visiting any area, especially late at night. The ample parking helps to mitigate potential concerns by reducing the need for extensive walking from distant parking spots.
For those utilizing public transportation, the venue's location is accessible by various means within San Francisco's robust transit system, though specific routes would depend on the starting point within the Bay Area. Checking public transport maps and schedules in advance is always recommended for the most efficient travel. The relative ease of access, particularly concerning parking, makes Space 550 a practical choice for a dance night out for residents across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Space 550 Reviews
Space 550 is a beautiful place to go salsa dancing. It has a huge beginner crowd for the lessons at 8:00 p.m. but the advanced dancers get there after 11:00 p.m.There are three rooms for dancing. The large room is the salsa room, the middle size room is the Bachata room and the third room is Cumbia. It is a huge crowd of dancers from 350 to 400!The dance floors are beautiful. And there are plenty of people want to dance. Choose your time ability. The beginners usually leave by 11. And there is plenty of room to dance by 12:00 midnight. Otherwise the dance floor is very crowded. I highly recommend this venue. Cover charges $25 at the door or order your tickets online and save money. There is plenty of street parking. And it isn't a safe neighborhood.

May 10, 2025 · Jonathan XieOver priced, over crowded and over hyped . There is entrance fee for $25. Drinks are off the chart overpriced, We paid $55 for 3 shots of tequila, They added random fees on. Minimal parking. Highly recommend to move the Bachata dance area to the outdoor patio it's way bigger than that little room at the back, people were knocking each other when they were doing big movements. Not recommended there are other bigger spaces for dancing.
