The Salsa and Bachata Latin Night Club at Dance Fridays is located at 550 Barneveld Ave, San Francisco, CA 94124, USA. This address places the venue in the Bayview/Dogpatch area of San Francisco, a district known for its industrial character, artistic spaces, and growing number of event venues. While it might be a little further from the city center for some, its accessibility is often highlighted as a positive. For those traveling by car, there is typically "plenty of FREE parking" and a "free parking lot," a significant advantage in San Francisco where parking can often be a challenge. This ease of parking makes it a convenient option for attendees coming from various parts of San Francisco and the wider Bay Area.
For individuals relying on public transportation, Barneveld Avenue is generally accessible, though it might require a combination of MUNI lines or ride-share services depending on the starting point. The area, while industrial, is generally considered safe for event-goers. The location allows for a larger, more industrial-style space that can accommodate multiple dance rooms and a massive dance floor, which might not be available in more central, densely populated areas. The somewhat off-the-beaten-path location also means it tends to attract a crowd genuinely interested in dance, rather than just casual bar-hoppers, contributing to a dedicated and enthusiastic dance community. This blend of spaciousness and convenient parking makes Space 550 a practical and attractive venue for large-scale dance events in California.
The accessibility of the venue helps ensure that the focus remains on the dance experience itself, with less concern about urban parking woes. The availability of free parking is a strong incentive for locals traveling from various neighborhoods or even from outside the immediate city limits, making it a viable and appealing option for regular attendance at Dance Fridays.

Amazing Friday night salsa and bachata. Great crowd, safe and very safe. Friendly staff, the space is great and dance lessons are wonderful for all levels.
May 18, 2025 · Eileen FloresWent out with high hopes for a night of spicy salsa dancing—what I got was…not that. The name, advertising, and website clearly promised a salsa club, so naturally I showed up ready to dance. Shoes shined, rhythm loaded. But once inside, it became quickly apparent that "salsa" must’ve meant the dip, because there was zero salsa dancing happening. No Latin music, no dancers, no basic steps, no clave… just a DJ spinning generic club tracks and a crowd more interested in selfies than salsa. Soon after came the Mongolian rap artist! What? How did we go from salsa to Mongolian rap??I asked the bartender about it and he said, “Yeah, no salsa tonight.” Huh?The drinks werr overpriced and it cost me $140 cover to get in, only to find realize the bait and switch. If you're hoping for cumbia, bachata, or anything even close to salsa, look elsewhere.False advertising is a killer. One star for the bar, but minus three for completely missing the mark on everything else.
Jun 08, 2025 · Scott TuszkiewiczFrom out of town and thought it had salsa dancing on Saturday night. Instead there was a specialMusical guest. No mention of it on their website or at the door. Spent $140 to get in. Disappointed.
Jun 08, 2025 · AshleyAt least once a month, I drive several hours one way for the Friday night Salsa and bachata so if that says anything about this place. I always have a fun time there! They have classes beforehand which is nice. There are great dancers and I’ve never had any problems. There’s a bachata room, salsa room, and most recently a third room with Cumbia! It’s a great place to go dancing and enjoy good music.
Dec 06, 2024 · Mariah PeissnerThere are Hershey Kisses and mints if you arrive early, but no actual food at this venue. That said, if you're looking for fun? This place has cured more depression than Prozac. Great place to learn Salsa and Bachata if you need lessons, or just to enjoy dancing with great people. There are dancers of all levels here, so while you're resting, you may watch some true artists performing. Come check it out!
