Jun 24, 2025 · Talin TenleyIt is so good. From friends to the teachers to the events I have made so many good memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Jun 28, 2025 · CruzI’m not a fan of summer camps or programs at all but SOCAPA was different for me. I think it was because it revolved around a topic I was interested in and I met other aspiring filmmakers and actors like myself. I attended the Los Angeles location, which was on the Occidental College campus. It was very nice around there, but sometimes the heat was a bit much. The food in the mess hall is very good and the cafeteria workers are nice. The counselors were very helpful and provided us with everything we would need to bring our stories to the screen. However, the equipment and editing software takes some getting used to. To write scripts, we used an app called Writer Duet. The unfortunate thing about Writer Duet is that you have to pay after three free trials and google docs is not an allowed substitute. So if you don’t want to use Writer Duet, you might have a hard time. Sometimes the entire camp would go on ”field trips” to Santa Monica and the Universal studios mall. There are also weekly Target runs which are helpful if you need to replace some supplies, buy filming props, and buy snacks for your dorm room. I highly recommend SOCAPA for anyone involved in the Arts and anyone who wants a chance to make their own movies, act, sing, and more.
Mar 26, 2025 · Luka MacikaThese have been the best two weeks of my life. I’m posting this on my babysitting account bc it’s where I do all my reviews so I don’t get the algorithm btw. The people here aren’t spoiled preppy brats they’re the best friends I have ever made so quickly if not ever. I made two movies I’m so proud of. My dorm and roommates were fantastic, the food was great, the res life activities were great, the staff were so welcoming and funny and I made more inside jokes than ever. As a kid without many friends who gets paper balls thrown over her head in class to the trash can I have never had a better experience with a group of people. Thanks to all the staff who made it amazing and I hope I can go back next summer for the advanced program. I’ll miss all my friends so much. You might see this review and think “it can’t be that great that’s just circumstance” but EVERYONE this session had this amazing of a time. Believe me, you’ll have an amazing time. If I could rate it 6 stars I would.PS check the SOCAPA la videos on the website to see my film and my friends films/monologues.PPS for the SOCAPA session one class of 2025 rip wife I’m crying rn bc I have to leave yall
Jun 28, 2025 · JadeMy daughter (14 at the time) went to LA from NJ for this camp for three weeks last summer and loved it. She did the film camp and the things that she was exposed to were amazing. The films she made, remarkable. She’s going back to the advanced camp this summer - and attending their winter program in NYC starting next week. Great program!
