Jun 15, 2025 · Andrea WareThis was our first year at SOSD. Coming from someone who has been involved in the dance world for decades as a dancer, teacher, and dance mom, I’ve never seen a more organized and well-run dance school. The communication is phenomenal. The teachers are friendly, energetic and really enjoy their jobs. The recital was efficient, extremely entertaining, and a pleasure to watch. Shannon and Julie seem to have everything down to a science and care about all their dancers. Also, the recital being in October just really relieved some of that end of school year stress. Highly recommended!!!
Nov 05, 2024 · Keri McCarthyAs a parent of a child who danced at SOSD and who has challenges in her life I am disheartened to hear of a response I read from a friend of a parent regarding a dance student. When we enrolled our daughter we were very clear and upfront about the challenges they should expect with having her in a group of mostly typical students. It was to her benefit that they knew upfront so that they could plan and make the accommodations for our daughter to be able to have the amazing opportunity to dance at such a prestigious studio. We had continuous open communication with the staff who taught her class. We frequently checked in with Shannon, the owner, to make sure it was still a good fit for our daughter and the other students in her class. The staff were consistent with accepting the differences that our daughter had and she made it to recital with the utmost respect from all staff, Shannon and Julie. Our daughter was able to experience dancing one dance that day with a smile that we had always hoped for. We were amazed as her parents. I do believe that the open communication with her instructors was the key to her success. We have nothing but the utmost respect for the entire staff at SOSD. We were grateful for them allowing and accepting a child with challenges as graciously as they did. The studio is known to accept all children and to teach the the art of dance. Shannon, Julie and staff we as parents are grateful for your flexibility and professionalism always. You enabled our daughter to live a dream that we never thought was possible. It was tough love at times, but she grew from that experience and still talks about dance 15 years later. You are exceptional and we thank you for giving so many children of all abilities the opportunity to experience being a dancer for the best of the best. Thank you. You are all forever in our hearts 💚💚💚
