North Jersey School of Dance Arts Reviews
NJSDA is everything I could ask for in a dance school for my daughters. Miss Ashley and Miss Alex (the owners) are simply the best, maintaining a phenomenal balance between having the high standards of an excellent dance school while still being caring/kind. All of their dancers adore them, show them utmost respect, and want to make them proud. The other instructors at the school are also top tier professionals with the same challenging standards and caring demeanor. This attitude is reflected by the dancers, who support each other. The families are great. NJSDA is very different from the stereotypical “dance mom” type of dance school. On top of that, I couldn’t be happier with the quality of their instruction… it is worth every penny. If your dancer is willing to work hard, this school will prepare them to compete with the best of the best.
Sep 17, 2023 · Kelly LaVerdeDid try out class with my 2.5 year old daughter. They don’t let parents in class, but they did an exception for me due to our first time there. They expected me to have not only ballet shoes for try out but also tap shoes which of cos we didn’t have, they tried to find some shoes in their storage for my daughter but doesn’t have right size so they allowed her to be in her ballet shoes for tap part of class. Teacher doesn’t care a bit about new student and tried to explained 2.5 year old child who never did ballet how to do plie by words “bend your legs in diamond shape”, I as a former dancer was forced to actually put my daughter’s legs in the right position once and she picked up right the way. Teacher doesn’t pay attention how kids do exercises right or wrong and it was only 5 kids including my daughter. They sent me follow up email after the class where I explained all of this as a reason not to sign up and they replied “our teaching style maybe not a right fit” and “we practicing games and playful activities” which was zero games and zero playful activities only freeze dance in the end of class. Almost forgot that 2.5-3 year old kids should switch their shoes from ballet to tap in the middle of class which takes good amount of time also.I am very disappointed about this school and won’t recommend at least ballet classes for 2.5-3 year old kids.
Jun 17, 2025 · Julia PAnyone who is looking for talented, highly educated and extremely kind teachers for your child to learn from, NJSDA is the place for you! We switched to this school 2 years ago and couldn’t be happier we did. Ashley and Alex truly care about each student in their school. They have a passion for dance and it shows. The “recital” at the end of the year is more like attending a Broadway musical. The dancers all work together to ensure everyone shines throughout the production. Thank you NJSDA for helping our tiny dancer shine bright!
Sep 25, 2023 · Kelly PezzaniteMy daughter has been taking dance classes at NJSDA for over 8 years. This school focuses on teaching the proper technique of dance while exposing the students to the art of a professional performance. The teachers are very supportive and encouraging. All the teachers really want the best for each student and push each student to reach their fullest potential. They offer corrections as needed and understand each dancers’ abilities. The school is a healthy environment promoting confidence for each student to be their personal best, not only as a dancer but as a person. I highly recommend this school for your child’s dancing education.
Oct 11, 2023 · Carrie Beth CaponeMy daughter has been attending NJSDA for 3 years and we couldn’t love the school more. The teachers are highly trained professionals who take their passion for dance seriously. I am confident my daughter is learning from the best of the best! They also make it fun and enjoyable which has made my daughter fall in love with dance over the years! Ballet, tap, musical theater and hip hop are our favorite classes. The owners are easy to work with and always answer my emails in a timely manner. Also, the studio looks amazing with its most recent updates! We love NJSDA!
