My daughter started training with Ms Maniya at age 10. This is the right place for classic ballet training. It is a place for both the parents and the kids to take ballet seriously and care about doing things right. The artistic taste is the highest in North Fulton . What I like the most is the studio doesn’t engage in toxic culture of dance competition, but train the kids to adapt into the real world with hard work and team work. Success doesn’t come easily, it takes discipline and determination - Zhou Yang

Metropolitan Ballet Theatre (MBT) offers a comprehensive range of programs dedicated to developing young dancers in the art of classical ballet, alongside fostering essential life skills. Their curriculum is meticulously structured to provide rigorous training for various ages, proficiencies, and dancer objectives.

  • Classical Ballet Training: This forms the core of MBT's curriculum. Students receive in-depth instruction in traditional classical ballet technique, focusing on precision, strength, grace, posture, and performance skills. Classes cover barre work, center work, allegro, adagio, and pointe work (for appropriate levels), ensuring a strong foundational technique crucial for advanced dance training.

  • Pre-Professional Training Program: For dedicated dancers aiming for a professional career, MBT offers a pre-professional track. This intensive program provides enhanced performance opportunities and rigorous training designed to prepare students for the demands of a professional dance career.

  • Multiple Levels for All Ages: MBT caters to a wide range of ages and skill levels, from young children (ages 2-7 with Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet) to teens (ages 7 to 18) and even open classes for ages 13 and up, including professional dancers and former dancers. Students are assessed and placed into appropriate levels to ensure tailored instruction and optimal progress.

  • Complementary Dance Styles: While classical ballet is foundational, MBT's curriculum is complemented with modern, contemporary, and jazz classes. This diverse range of styles enriches students' overall dance experience, develops versatility, and prepares them for the varied demands of the dance world.

  • Summer Intensive Programs: MBT offers summer intensive programs for students aged 8 and up. These programs provide an opportunity to train with world-renowned master teachers, including their own director, Ms. Maniya Barredo, offering concentrated, high-level instruction.

  • Performance Opportunities: Students at MBT have multiple opportunities to perform in fully staged productions. Most famously, they have an annual Nutcracker performance since 1989, along with spring ballets such as Cinderella and Don Quixote. These experiences are invaluable for building confidence, stage presence, and showcasing acquired skills.

  • Community Outreach Programs: As part of its mission, MBT actively gives back to the community through outreach efforts. Since 1989, they have provided free performances, lecture demonstrations, and dance classes to schools, senior centers, community events, and hospitals, promoting a love and appreciation of dance across Georgia.

This demonstrates MBT's consistent ability to develop dancers to their highest potential.

  • Comprehensive Curriculum and Performance Opportunities: While prioritizing classical ballet, the inclusion of modern, contemporary, and jazz classes provides a well-rounded education. Regular performance opportunities, including the beloved annual Nutcracker, offer invaluable stage experience and build crucial stage presence.

  • Resilience and Commitment (e.g., during challenges like COVID): While not explicitly in the provided snippet, external information indicates the school's commitment to its students even during challenging times (e.g., maintaining classes virtually during the pandemic with utmost attention to safety). This further underscores their dedication and reliability.

  • Accessibility and Inclusivity: MBT welcomes students of varying ages and skill levels, offering open classes and year-round auditions.
