Mallory Academy of Dance Introduce
For families in Bakersfield, California, seeking not just a dance studio, but a second home where artistic passion is nurtured and personal growth is paramount, Mallory Academy of Dance and Arts stands as a beacon of excellence. Established in 2018 by Natalia Mallory, this academy builds upon a strong foundation of dance education, offering a truly comprehensive and inclusive experience for dancers of all ages and abilities. It's a place where discipline meets compassion, and where every student is encouraged to flourish.
The core philosophy of Mallory Academy of Dance and Arts is deeply rooted in developing well-rounded dancers and individuals. This commitment extends far beyond teaching technique and choreography. As one parent eloquently shared, "Beyond teaching technique and choreography, they also provide education in nutrition, anatomy, dance history, and multiple styles of dance." This holistic approach ensures that students gain a comprehensive understanding of the art form, equipping them with knowledge that supports their physical well-being and artistic intelligence. Furthermore, the practice of providing "quarterly feedback" demonstrates a profound investment in each dancer's journey, offering valuable insights into their progress and areas for continued growth.
A defining characteristic that truly sets this studio apart is its unwavering commitment to inclusivity. Breaking away from "the stereotypical mold of what a dancer 'should' look like," Mallory Academy "welcome students of all sizes, backgrounds, and abilities." This inclusive spirit creates an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered, fostering a sense of belonging that is truly special. Testimonials repeatedly highlight this supportive atmosphere: "We Absolutely love Mallory Academy! The teachers are incredibly skilled and truly dedicated to helping and motivating every student. They work with all children, regardless of background or experience, and create such an inclusive and supportive endowment."
The impact of this nurturing environment on students is transformative. One parent recounted their daughter's journey: "Our daughter began with inward-turning feet and a love for movement. Today, she’s part of the competition team and thrives in an environment that challenges her while nurturing her confidence. This studio is more than just a place to dance—it’s a family. We are forever grateful." This powerful narrative illustrates how Mallory Academy helps children overcome physical challenges, build self-confidence, and find a passionate community. The fact that students can progress to a competition team, like their award-winning MAD Krew, yet still feel nurtured speaks volumes about the balanced approach of the academy.
Mallory Academy of Dance and Arts prides itself on offering a diverse and high-quality dance curriculum. As the largest Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) school in the Central Valley, they provide exceptional ballet instruction based on the internationally recognized RAD syllabus, with students having the opportunity to participate in yearly examinations to ensure their technique meets a global standard. Their diverse offerings also include hip hop, jazz, tap, and contemporary dance, catering to a wide range of interests and goals, whether recreational or pre-professional.
Beyond the regular classes, the academy is deeply involved in community events and performances. A particularly special tradition is "Natalia Mallory's The Nutcracker," Bakersfield's only community-based Nutcracker production. This annual spectacle at The Historic Bakersfield Fox Theatre is a magical holiday tradition that truly reflects the academy's commitment to celebrating the arts and uniting individuals through the joy of dance.

May 21, 2025 · April PerezMy daughter has joined dance & Mallory Academy almost 3 yrs now. She is 10yrs old. It’s been such a great experience for her. Natalia’s mission is not only to learn techniques of dance but the history of dance, anatomy , nutrition behind it as well as promoting to be an overall good person, disciplined, and leader. This year I’ve seen my daughter grown even more in her dancing. The studio feels like family especially seeing the passion Natalia and her mom Dawn have in teaching and love for all their dance kids including help from their assistant April who keeps all the parents informed in advance. Go watch a show first to see it on your own. Thats what we did when we watched the nutcracker for the 1st time and knew we made the right decision.
Jun 01, 2025 · Olivia ZaragozaWe’ve been part of Mallory Academy of Dance since my daughter was 4. She is now 9, and I truly can’t say enough good things. What started as a whim recommendation has become one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. The studio has not only helped her grow into a strong, graceful dancer, but has also shaped her into a confident, hardworking, and resilient young girl. Through dance, she’s learned that she can do hard things, how to work through challenges with patience and discipline, and how to be part of a team. What sets Mallory Academy apart is how deeply they care about developing character, not just talent. They’ve taught her the importance of nutrition, how to care for her body, and the pride in being a woman. They foster a true sense of family, inclusion, and belonging, celebrating dancers of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and abilities. From competitions to shows, my daughter loves every minute she spends at the studio, and we are so thankful to be part of a place that believes in lifting up every dancer, both on and off the stage.
