KAPA Dance Music & Theater Reviews
My daughter has loved her time in KAPA and the community that the dance class has offered her. She hasn’t had an easy road, as she has some undiagnosed medical: special needs , as well as having bilateral clubfoot. Karla has done an amazing job teaching my daughter how to do ballet. She has adapted dances to ensure she can always be included, even though it’s often in a different way than the more “typical” children. An example of this would be that in their most recent recital, our girl stood in the middle as “the happiest Christmas tree” while the other girls danced in a circle around her. Not only was this an adaption, but it was one that made her feel like a star, not “othered” or “disadvantage” in some way. I can assure you, if you sign your child up for KAPA, they will be both challenged to do their best, and loved and accepted for who they are. We will be a KAPA family for many many years.
Dec 15, 2023 · Heather KowaleskiKAPA is amazing! As a student and teacher in the dance world I truly mean it and know to the fullest of my knowledge when I say that these teachers care about their students and want nothing more but for them to succeed in what ever they wish to achieve in the dance world. Whether it be for fun or career this place and their staff will be there for you and help get you there. The woman that owns and operates this place is nothing short than a real live wonder woman. She will push your kids to be all that they can be on and off the stage. She understands what it takes to make it out there in the scary big dance world. If you hear other dance parents bad mouthing this place, it's probably because they felt their little star didn't get enough attention or they were being picked on. I don't blame them for feeling that way. We all want the best for our kids, right? But I have been around long enough to see that no child gets left behind or forgotten there at KAPA. When you and your children enter those doors you become part of this KAPA family. It's like a little community of dance moms, dads and students, and of course, the staff. Sometimes, yes. There is a little unnecessary drama or disagreement. But that is everywhere and anywhere you go. At least this academy tries to work it out and resolve it in the best most appropriate manner. This studio has been invited to perform at many wonderful and amazing places. They have been recognized by many prestigious people in the dance industry. And always bring home great awards from dance competitions. AND the studio has been invited back to Disneyland for the 2nd time in a row to perform and take workshops. They are offered so many amazing opportunities there. The dancers just need to want it as badly as the teachers want it for them and they will be able to achieve anything...My name is Abby. I have had no professional or "real" dance experience when I started here but I was passionate about it. I wanted to dance like those dancers we see on T.V. or on Broadway. Within one year I have accomplished and done so many things I thought I could never do or would take me years to learn. By only my second year of full on dance training I was recognized and noticed by a high valued choreographer. Even after having difficulty keeping up with the higher level class I was put in because of my older teen age, he appraised me on my "wow" performance attitude and charisma. He said that because of that I have made my impression on him and he will remember my face if he were to ever see me again at an audition, etc. It literally brought tears to my eyes because he noticed me out of so many other awesome students from other studios that have had a lot more years of training than I have.. Ms. Karla taught me so much. And the reason I was noticed that day was because of something she instills in all of us as dancers. BE NOTICED. Make them see you. Make them WANT to watch you. Even if you mess up, even if it's hard, what you lack in technique you can make up for with an amazing on stage personality because that is what they want to see. That is what they are looking for. But of course technique is still important. And this woman teaches it to the fullest at her studio and has her dancers work hard on it. And they improve every single day. That is no joke! This studio works hard through the blood, sweat, and tears to create amazing well-rounded dancers for every style of dance. They don't deliver anything less. I love this studio and would recommend it to anyone that loves or even takes an interest to dance. You never know when that interest leads to something much greater. KAPA will be there for you if it does and they will offer you the best a dance academy can offer. I admire this woman and the academy for their love for the students, parents, and dance itself. I thank them for everything they do for us. And I hope your experience with KAPA is just as amazing as mine was.
Aug 10, 2014 · Abigail VillaMy daughter has been dancing at KAPA for several years and it has been an excellent experience for her. She has learned discipline and how to perform in front of an audience. The teachers are great with the kids.
Aug 06, 2018 · Jennifer HuberI spoke with the owner before signing up my special needs daughter for dance. She assured me they knew how to work with children like mine. Instead, when my SpEd preschooler had a meltdown one day, the owner SPIT in her face.
Aug 11, 2023 · Sondra AndersonI took my kids here for two years . Will never take them back between the lack of professionalism . My children now have to be retrained in dance . The owner was asked to stop using my child's photos for promotions and three years latter is still doing it.
