Rochelle Performing Arts Academy

425 Lincoln Hwy, Rochelle, IL 61068, USA

4.0
Unprofessional. With 7 months to prepare for competition, Routines were thrown together and not competitive. (Poor technique) Costumes weren’t in until the last minute. “Director” is unorganized and plays favorites. There is a lot of wasted times at practice. Kids running around screaming including her own daughter running through the studio while students are running routines. If I had one word to describe Christa McGrath’s Competition team it would be chaos. I chose to leave because I am too serious of a dancer to play games, which is all she does. She’s disrespectful and takes shortcuts to get ahead. Its just about everything except DANCE. - Kara Smith

  • Friendly Staff: Positive feedback referencing "very friendly staff" indicates a welcoming atmosphere, which is crucial for new students and parents feeling comfortable and supported within the studio environment.

However, it is imperative for prospective students and their families to be aware of other significant feedback. One detailed review highlights serious concerns that should be carefully considered:

  • Concerns Regarding Professionalism and Organization: The review states "Unprofessional" behavior, "unorganized" direction, and "chaos" during practice, including instances of children running around screaming.

  • Issues with Instruction and Competition Preparation: Allegations include "Routines were thrown together and not competitive (Poor technique)" and "takes shortcuts to get ahead," suggesting potential issues with the quality and rigor of dance instruction, particularly for competitive programs.

  • Concerns about Fairness and Respect: The review claims the "Director" "plays favorites" and is "disrespectful," which could negatively impact the learning environment and student morale.

  • Safety and Supervision Issues: The report of a child "running through the studio while students are running routines" and another instance of a child being physically harmed by another student, coupled with the assertion that "the studio had no extra help to monitor her," raises significant concerns about supervision and student safety during classes.

These contrasting points of view mean that while the studio may offer a visually appealing space and friendly initial interactions, families should thoroughly investigate and communicate directly with the Academy regarding their specific concerns about curriculum, safety, and studio management.
