More than just a place to learn dance steps, this academy is a vibrant community where passion for dance meets a profound commitment to youth mentorship and success. Since launching as a community-based dance competition team in 2016 and opening their own studio in 2021, The Golden Dancerettes have built a reputation for excellence, dedication, and a truly transformative impact on their students.
The directors, Keanna Henry and Shania Farmer, who started this venture at just 17 years old, envisioned a platform that would not only fulfill their own dreams of a dance career but also empower other young individuals in their community. This vision has blossomed into an academy celebrated for its ability to foster children through the art of dance while providing accessible classes. The abundance of trophies proudly displayed in their window is a testament to the students' hard work and the academy's success in competitive dance, inspiring continuous dedication and ambition.
What truly sets HOUSE OF GOLD DANCE ACADEMY apart is its holistic approach to education. As passionately described by a grateful community member, it's "not just a dance studio." The academy goes "above and beyond" to ensure that "each and every child that walk through their doors succeed beyond measures." This commitment extends to providing support with homework and guiding dancers "in the right path to their future," illustrating a deep dedication to their students' overall well-being and academic success, not just their dance prowess.
The comprehensive range of dance styles offered, including majorette, hip-hop, African, and ballet, ensures that students have diverse avenues for expression and skill development. This variety caters to different interests and allows dancers to explore various forms of movement, enriching their artistic journey. The constant practice, often noted as "day and night away," speaks volumes about the discipline instilled and the passion ignited within these young dancers, driving them towards their goals.
The strong sense of community and family-like atmosphere are recurring themes in the academy's praise. The allowance for alumni to return and become coaches highlights a cyclical model of mentorship and continued support, reinforcing the "house of gold" truly created by the founders and coaches. This environment fosters positive peer relationships and a collective drive towards achievement, making it a truly unique and invaluable local resource for families in Queens.

Jun 11, 2025 Β· Joseph Joseph Veach JrI love this dance team! The best to ever do it in Queens, NY. The ladies who started this business have a true passion not only for dance but to make sure each and every child that walk through their doors succeed beyond measures. They offer all different types of dances majorette, hip-hop, African, ballet, etc. They go above and beyond to make sure all their students make it. Its not just a dance studio, they help their dancers with homework and to guide them in the right path to their future. What I love the most is their signature walk!! And how they allow their alumniβs to return and become coaches. The house of gold is truly what the coaches have created. 10/10 will forever recommend!! Great job ladies!
Jul 01, 2024 Β· Guerline CajusteWe have been TGD members for six years now. I have watched these young ladies throughout the years make a name for themselves in the majorette world. Not only are they teaching majorette, but the girls are learning ballet, African, jazz, lyrical and hip hop. This year they started a regional dance team and gave the girls an opportunity to experience another field of dance. They are still growing as young entrepreneurs and I believe they will be a forced to be reckoned with years to come. Let's give these young ladies who started this team as teenagers and still in their early twenties a round of applause for showing our girls the world of competitive majorette dance and more. My daughter has made lasting friendships, traveled to numerous states and continues to grow as a dancer. Thank you.
Jun 18, 2024 Β· M LOUISAbsolutely love this dance studio and enjoyed speaking with the lovely beautiful young ladies who are the owners very professional and I canβt wait until my daughters and nieces are dancing with them. Keep up the good and hard work ladies it definitely shows and speaks volumes about you girls alone and your successful business that you built from the ground up. Looking forward to speaking with you more!!
Aug 27, 2024 Β· Twin Faces Ent.I really hate that i have to leave this review. I really wanted to support these young ladies. The way these ladies conduct business is extremely distasteful. One of the Coaches does not greet parents during drop off and pick up. When you ask concerning questions about your child you are met with a attitude, and a condescending tone. My children where pulled out of their end of the year recital because the coach was unable to control her emotions; after my wife was approached about my daughter not being able to finish her last two performances. She was disrespected by the staff unprovoked. My children were put in an uncomfortable environment during the recital. Practices are canceled without an appropriate grace period. We are notified late for Practice extensions. I wouldn't recommend this dance company if you appreciate organization,ll and professionalism.
