Fred Astaire Dance Studios Reviews
My fiancé and I had a wonderful experience here learning our wedding dance from the amazing instructor Anna. We were taught the basics in various ballroom dances and then the she built on those according to our ability. It was a lot of fun! The dance floor is always filled with several other people dancing and it's an exciting atmosphere. All of the instructors are super talented and it's just a great experience overall!
Apr 16, 2025 · Mackenna DombroskiThis is an upper east side jewel! A special place filled with joy, amazing energy, and amazing people. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with such warmth. The team is so talented and supportive. As a native Manhattanite, I’m so grateful to have found this amazing studio in my neighborhood that has nurtured my love of ballroom dancing beyond what I ever expected. I always loved to dance, but never imagined I would dance competitions or showcases at this level. They are real pros and know how to develop a passion. Grateful to them all. Let’s dance!
Oct 04, 2024 · A FrankWe had an amazing time dancing BUT what the eff was that sales pitch at the end??? Our instructor tried to get us to spend hundreds on a beginners dance program. And when we said no (multiple times), she kept trying to get us to sign up. That was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been in my life. It really ruined the fun experience.
Nov 16, 2024 · Jilly C.This was at the previous location on Madison Ave.My fiancé and I purchased the 1 private + 1 group intro lessons. We only completed the private lesson and never went back for the group lesson. The lesson itself was 10/10 for beginners and our teacher did a wonderful job in the short amount of time we had to go over all of the basic dances. However, it was followed by a 30 minute, high-pressure sales tactic where we were cornered in their office. We didn't end up purchasing the "deals" they gave us, which were $25-$50 off $700-1200 packages, ironically because of the poor salesmen-ship that left us both feeling annoyed. We communicated 4 different times that we'd like to wait and decide after the group lesson but this was followed by stories of previous clients/couples "practicing for a year" or purchasing a package to put on "an amazing show and avoiding looking awkward." All in my opinion were strategies to get us to buy a deal on the spot. At points we felt like we were arguing. In hindsight we should've just stood up and left. Some advice for you from someone who has worked in sales - listen to your customers and trust their feelings. We went to you and got dance lessons with the full intention to continue to return and learn. However, when you disrespect someone's intelligence by not genuinely listening to their points, feelings, and concerns, it makes them not want to come back. That's why we never returned. The new location looks much nicer though. I'd still refer my friends here with this obvious caveat.
Aug 05, 2024 · Luke MillerThe teachers at this dance studio are phenomenal—skilled, kind, and hilarious. Their expertise and unique approach make learning to dance an absolute joy. I highly recommend giving them a try.
