We got married at Exchange Hall this past weekend and couldn't be happier with our choice of venue. Peggy, the owner, helped us every step of the way and made sure all the details were in place. She stayed in touch with all the vendors from the earliest stages of planning to the day of the event. I'm certain we couldn't have pulled it off without her help. And the caterer Peggy recommended was outstanding. Everyone raved about the food and we couldn't have been happier with the service. The ballroom was perfect and the lovely Victorian Room was a great getaway for anyone who wanted a break from the festivities upstairs. We highly recommend Exchange Hall and Peggy and Glenn! - R and C

Exchange Hall Introduce

Hello, Massachusetts residents! Are you searching for a venue that combines rich history, architectural charm, and impeccable service for your next special occasion? Look no further than Exchange Hall, a distinguished historical landmark nestled in the heart of Acton, MA. This isn't just an event space; it's a piece of local history, offering a unique and memorable backdrop for weddings, celebrations, and community gatherings.

Exchange Hall, built in 1860, is a stunning 3½-story wood-frame building in the Italianate style, proudly standing on Quimby Square at the intersection of Main and School Streets in South Acton. Recognized on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986, it’s a testament to Acton's vibrant past and an architectural gem that continues to serve as a vital part of the town's social and economic life. Originally home to a dry goods business run by James Tuttle, its third floor famously served as an open space for civic, social, and religious functions, embodying its long-standing role as a community hub.

For over 150 years, Exchange Hall has been an integral part of Acton's narrative. It was a bustling mercantile center in the 1860s and a lively social gathering place where locals sought amusement in dancing, concerts, lectures, and theatrical productions in its grand ballroom. Imagine the echoes of annual balls, quadrilles, waltzes, and polkas that filled its halls! It even hosted lectures by luminaries like Henry David Thoreau in the 1860s and Henry Ward Beecher in the 1870s, and witnessed performances by Boston Mayor and congressman, John "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald, grandfather of President John F. Kennedy.

Today, Exchange Hall has been beautifully renovated and meticulously maintained, blending its historic charm with modern amenities. It continues its legacy as a welcoming venue, perfect for hosting your most cherished events. As local customers rave, it offers a "perfect and lovely day" for celebrations, supported by knowledgeable and friendly owners who are dedicated to making every event seamless and special. Its quaint, "old Yankee-sort of way" charm creates an atmosphere that is both elegant and incredibly enjoyable, making it a truly unique asset to the Massachusetts event scene.
