I honestly didn’t want to leave this review but I’m going to. I wouldn’t recommend this dance studio if you want you child to actually learn and progress as a dancer at a young age. Mine is 7 she has been here for two years and the first year was great bet it was beginner classes at age 5. But the next year they opened competitive tiny toes. She auditioned and got accepted. Went through months and months of classes on Monday for a lesson that was an hour and a 15 minutes and was charged accordingly. From August to February she was going classes she showed up every week. Got the ordering shirts and backpacks for the competition season and then a few days after I get the custom embroidered backpack, that wasn’t cheap by any means, and the day they finally sent out a video for us to practice at home with my daughter is the day she is cut. No one ever while I was sitting there told me that my daughter was struggling with a routine. No one ever said she could come in for extra lessons or asked if I could bring her in. They just cut her from the team and then when I asked the director to tell my daughter what she did wrong because I’m not a dancer, and I cannot best explain how she got cut. She never once talked to my daughter. She will happily accept the money for the lessons and move on with your child. And when I try to explain my frustration with this, she said we don’t want you to be upset. Would you like your money back to leave? And I was just mind blowing that my daughter had spent months doing this competitive lessons. So much time and money to get her in these classes and to drive from Rosharon to Missouri city every Monday Just to be cut and then put in jazz tap and still not have a costume for my daughter when the showcase is in May and it’s April. This has left such a sour taste in my mouth towards this dance company, which is just riddled with trophies and banners And presents like they are winning company but only if your child is like a dance prodigy will they get the attention they need. And to add the jazz tap lessons are only 45 minutes in comparison to the hour and 15 minute class. And I asked for compensation because it wasn’t fair that I had to do these hours of driving my daughter there and back for months and got nothing back. If anything I had to pay them to get tap shoes for my daughter, which is crazy because I had already bought her all the competitive where she needed so on top of getting kicked out of competitive I had to buy her tap shoes. They didn’t just give me tap shoes I had to buy them. And to add my daughters joy for dancing has completely been stripped away after all this. I will be searching elsewhere for a different company Or just not do dance at all for the way she was treated. I highly doubt the director knows the name of my daughter and we’ve been there for 2 to 3 years. Which is awful when I hear how other people are treated and how the directors know all the children’s name at different studios in the area. I don’t know just take this warning if your child does struggle with learning routines That this place does not want to take the time to teach her child More than what the lesson is required and then Not give you any warning that your child is struggling and just cut them from a team. At the age of 6. 😕 - Mercedes Harris

For families in Missouri City and the surrounding Texas communities considering dance education, Dance Works presents itself as a local option with a focus on competitive dance programs. For those seeking an environment where competitive success is a clear goal and displayed through "trophies and banners," this studio might align with their aspirations. The availability of classes for young beginners, such as the "tiny toes" program, allows children to start their dance journey at an early age within a structured setting.

However, it's essential for local families to consider their specific priorities when choosing a dance studio. For parents whose children may require more individualized support or consistent feedback on their progress, it would be prudent to have direct conversations with the studio's leadership about their policies on student development, communication channels, and support for dancers who might be struggling. Understanding how the studio handles these situations upfront can help manage expectations and ensure a positive experience for your child. The financial investment in competitive dance, including custom attire and travel, as highlighted in one review, is also an important consideration for local families.
