Contemporary Ballet Dallas Reviews
CBD is outstanding. Our daughter loves her instructor, Ms. Valya Shipley. Without her graciousness and expertise teaching dance, I doubt my daughter ever would have got over the initial trepidation that all little ones experience. We are so pleased, and my daughter's dance career is off on the right foot, so to speak!
Sep 04, 2024 · Patrick DyessI finished the adult beginners class for classical ballet last year at this studio.Unfortunately it was not what I expected. I usually don’t write negative reviews, but in this case I think it will be helpful for other people looking for a beginners class to read my experiences.Firstly, I would like to state that after each class we received a questionnaire to ask about our experience and if we have feedback. I filled these in EVERY time with my experience, and gave constructive feedback and asking for a little more help. No one ever reached out to me after filling in about 10 of these. So this review should not come as a shock to the school.I used to to ballet as a kid, and loved it. Back in the day, the teacher would help you get your feet or other body parts right and give you feedback if your posture wasn’t right. In this class however, the teacher never give any personal feedback, only to “the group”. Not even when I asked, there was always a “sigh” when I asked for a little bit more help or guidance. Most people in this class often did not know what to do and looked lost. The teacher did not care and was going through the motions. When I asked for a little more help on behalf of the class, the teacher said “most people learn ballet when they are a kid, so yes this is hard”. I was dumbfounded. If you as a school do not believe adults are worth it to teach this class, then don’t offer adult classes. When I asked others in the class how they thought it was going, some of them told me this was there 3rd time doing the same class in the hopes of getting better each time. I’m sorry, but that is just ridiculous. If you can’t teach your students the right way, why would you encourage them to do the same class multiple times? If there is “no time” to help your students do it right from the start, then how do we as students evolve from there? If you just want to do a few basic workouts and don’t actually care about learning ballet from the start, by all means try this dance studio. If however you want to truly learn ballet, this is not for you.
Aug 19, 2024 · Timmy LI’m so happy I found this studio. There are so many classes available, for all ages, from complete beginner to advanced. I have been taking the basics beginner ballet series and absolutely loving it. Students are encouraged to show up as they are. I never feel judged in class, only encouraged. Deborah has been an amazing instructor who takes the time to give thoughtful corrections in class. I feel stronger and more connected with my body since taking class with her. I would highly recommend classes with Deborah or any teacher at CBD! Great, reputable studio
Jun 03, 2023 · Hayley ByrdCalled multiple times over 2-3 week time span trying to book a dance birthday party for my daughter. Each time I was told I would receive a call back from the manager or the person in charge of booking these parties -- never heard from them. Was PROMISED I would receive a call back. Never did. Very unprofessional. I think it would have been a very fun party for 5 year olds. Too bad.
Nov 11, 2024 · Jeo OAmazing staff and teacher, our daughter's first day of Ballet. She absolutely loved it!
