For families in Pleasant Valley, Missouri, and across the broader Kansas City metropolitan area, finding a dance studio that truly connects with students and fosters a love for dance can be a journey. CODE - Conservatory Of Dance Education, often simply known as CODE Dance Studio, has been a significant presence in the local dance scene since 1998, aiming to provide professional dance instruction and a supportive environment for aspiring dancers. This studio is led by owner and teacher Phil Vitug, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his career as a professional dancer and choreographer, having worked with notable names in the entertainment industry.
CODE's vision is to provide top-quality dance education that equips students with the precise knowledge and skills to excel in their performances. They offer a range of classes for children aged 3 and up, including recreational, performance team, and competitive tracks. The studio emphasizes instilling proper and safe dance technique, while also creating an amazing experience for students and their families. Their aim is to go beyond just teaching dance technique, striving to leave students with lasting and transferable skills applicable to all aspects of their lives, such as discipline, focus, and stage presence.
Positive experiences from some clients highlight the studio's engaging approach and the enjoyment students find in attending classes. For instance, one parent shared how their daughter, after trying two other studios, found her match at CODE, loving to go and finding the recitals "mind blowing awesome." This indicates a strong connection between the instructors and students, fostering enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
However, it is also important to acknowledge that like any business, CODE has received varied feedback. Some parents have expressed significant frustrations regarding class cancellations, rescheduling issues, and perceived lack of communication or availability from front office staff. These concerns, while potentially isolated incidents or relating to specific periods, highlight the importance of clear communication and consistent administrative support in any service-based business, especially one catering to children's activities. It suggests that while the quality of instruction and the performances may be high, there might be areas for improvement in operational consistency and client communication from the perspective of some users.
Despite these mixed reviews, CODE continues to serve the Pleasant Valley and wider Kansas City dance community. Their commitment to professional dance instruction and the development of well-rounded individuals remains a core aspect of their mission. For prospective students and their families, understanding both the strengths and potential challenges, as indicated by various customer experiences, is key to determining if CODE is the right fit for their dance education journey.

CODE - Conservatory Of Dance Education, Dance Studio Reviews
Love this place! It’s the third dance studio I’ve sent my daughter to and we’ve found our match! They are so engaging and she absolutely loves going. The recent recitals were mind blowing awesome! They do cancel for bad weather and I’m honestly grateful for that bc I don’t want to drive in the ice or snow and don’t expect them to either.
Jun 08, 2024 · Amanda DonniciSuper disappointed. I have Four daughters all of which have been in dance studios over the years. Recently moved to the northland and have one daughter currently in this studio. Out of the past 6 weeks, my daughter has been to 2 classes and one of which was rescheduled for a later time and had to sit and wait, yet I have driven her up each week. This same thing happened through the holiday months. Last week, I came in to no class and spoke with a lady in the back office after waiting in the lobby. No one is ever at the front desk helping direct traffic or making themselves available to their customers. Instead, they hide in the back room while are kids wonder where they go and trip over the shoe mess. Anyway, I expressed my frustration last week to this lady and she asked that I email her? I gave her mine and my daughters name thinking she would at least pass the information onto the owner who might reassure me and/or listen to my concerns. Did not here a word from anyone. I dropped my daughter off tonight and moments later, she calls me and says I need to come back and pick her up because there is no class and they are practicing for competition instead. Now, I’ve had enough and come inside to hopefully just get a refund and take my daughter to another studio. Again, no one at front desk or lobby. So I knock on the back office door and guess what, same guy and lady are hiding out in the back office. Expressed my frustrations yet again. Her reply was “well, did you email me”. I said no but I gave you my name and thought you might pass on the info but I guess I must email? She then said - there is class tonight and Laura is teaching it. Maybe if the 2 would get out of the back office and man the front desk, my daughter could have asked where class was tonight but instead they are in the closed office? May be an alright place for competition, but for just taking standard classes, go somewhere else where they care. Please do not withdrawal any more money from my account and would appreciate a call to discuss a fair amount to be refunded for classes my daughter was unable to attend.
Apr 03, 2024 · Tom Kochismr. Phil. And his entire team at code dance studio are simply amazing. My granddaughter is a part of this dance crew, and she absolutely loves it. Not to mention Mr. Phil has known my husband since they were youngsters, and we just appreciate the amount of effort and passion that he has for every single one of his students.
Aug 16, 2023 · YVETTE LOPEZCode Dance Studio is the BEST!!! We sign our children up for extra curricular activities with the goal of teaching discipline, work ethic, providing community, friends and instilling confidence. Code has provided my daughter all of these things far beyond my original expectation. They invest in her wellbeing both personally and as a dancer. Beyond the family/community environment, Code produces incredible dancers. The technique and talent is evident in the awards they receive. I have nothing but great things to say about Code!!!!
