This might be a long review, but hopefully it's helpful for those looking into the various dance options in the area.I found Celestial Stars at a Homeschool Convention last spring after looking online at the MANY options in the area. I was initially skeptical about a "Christian" dance program. In my own experience, studios that were "Christian" dance studios were subpar in their actual instruction, and were honestly kind of cheesy and not worth the time and expense. When I showed up at the studio to register my older two children, I was initially surprised at the very small building down a dirt road. I thought I was lost, and even a little bit hopeful that I was. Needless to say, I started the year a little concerned, but hoping for the best. I thought that if "different" turned out to be "strange", at least it was small enough so that my girls wouldn't feel overwhelmed by the classes, since they were starting dance a little later/older than most girls do.It became clear to me very quickly that my daughters were actually learning dance technique, and that their instructor was an incredibly kind and encouraging woman, who also wasn't afraid to tell them to try again or how to improve. It is a small studio, so the girls there tend to get to know one another well, and all of them that I have interacted with are very sweet. In fact, during rehearsal and picture season, when we realized we had not purchased part of the costume we needed, several girls offered to let us borrow things so that we didn't have to figure it out so last-minute.When we finally made it to the end-of-year Revue, I was stunned. The performances were absolutely beautiful. The music was tasteful but not cheesy, the costumes were gorgeous, and it actually felt like we were attending a professional performance. In fact, my stepdad has now attended various performances for my children over the years (music lessons, theatre, and other dance recitals), and he said (perhaps a little too honestly...) that he has never been impressed by any of them until this one. It was truly beautiful.On top of all of that, my husband and I were brought to tears as we watched our girls on the stage. They were confident and graceful, and were clearly proud of their work and enjoying themselves.Honestly, there are a million dance studios in cities all over the place that have the same "vibe". It's a lot of bright lights, showy glitz, questionable quality instruction. This place is a hidden gem in the Columbia area, and I am so grateful we took a chance on it.

I love dancing at Celestial Stars. The environment is so welcoming and the teachers are amazing! This studio provides a space where dancers can come to learn and train in many different genres of dance, but also have the opportunity to explore their own creativity and sense of self through dance. Celestial Stars also offers an amazing opportunity for young dancers to dance lead roles in their annual Christmas Angel Ballet. I highly recommend Celestial Stars to anyone looking for a dance studio.

The production of Christmas Angel is a great story for the holiday season. I would highly recommend seeing it. The teachers at this studio care about developing dancers but also about teaching them how to be a good person!
