5.0
I started training and playing capoeira in 2009 when I was living in San Francisco, and after 15 years I can safely say that capoeiristas are a global family, within which the groups are smaller families, inside which each class is an even smaller tighter family. Capoeira Luanda's Mestre Alegría's class in Manhattan is the warmest most welcoming capoeira fam you could stumble into, as I did moving from San Francisco to NYC after 20 years there. This is a group of folks that train hard, laugh hard, come from all backgrounds and experiences, spend lots of active and quality time with each other, push each other, show up for each other, and have fun inside and out of class. I feel lucky to have found their energy as well as Mestre Alegría's ease and creative skill as a community builder and teacher of one of the most well rounded cultural forms this world has to offer. At the end of the day you'll find your tribe, you'll have fun, you'll get fit, and you'll feel the love. Thanks for everything so far fam. And see you all soon :-) - Arvind Thyagarajan
