Virginia Ballet Company & School Reviews
My daughter has been going to VBC for four years, and she calls it her second home. The girls are like sisters to her, and the faculty are incredibly caring and provide a strong technical education. They are good about making her rest when injured and there is an emphasis on health and body positivity. Most of her classes are small and she gets lots of individual attention. Students play all the key roles in the company's performances, and they do several Nutcracker shows so the kids get to learn and perform a lot of different roles; I think last year my daughter had six roles and did anywhere from 1 to 4 in each production. And I started taking an adult tap class recently and am loving it.
May 24, 2022 · malena barzilaiMy daughter and I both dance at Virginia Ballet Company & School. The teachers are great, the staff welcoming, and the studio truly feels like a supportive family. Students (both children and adults) have various opportunities to perform, and the studio is just a wonderful place to learn and grow through dance!
Oct 19, 2023 · Melissa VallilloMy daughter has danced at VBC for eight years. We love the excellent teachers, the rigorous training, and the numerous performance opportunities. Shepherded by caring, capable faculty, she has learned firsthand what results from discipline and dedication, while making friends and being part of something bigger than herself.VBC's Nutcracker is performed every year with students playing all the roles. The studio also puts on a full-length ballet in the spring. Older students can also join the Touring Ensemble, which has many opportunities to perform in community outreach events all over Northern Virginia. VBC also runs a teaching apprentice program where older students can become assistant teachers.VBC has classes for toddlers on up, including a Parent and Me class and daytime classes for homeschoolers. It also operates a robust adult program with classes in ballet, pointe, tap and flamenco. There is a boys' program and opportunities to apply for scholarships. Right now, new families also get a sizable discount off their first class. Basically, there's something for everyone.
Oct 11, 2023 · Masha ROur family has had a wonderful experience with Virginia Ballet. The faculty members have danced with companies professionally, and are keenly aware of the competitive nature of ballet yet still create a familial and supportive atmosphere for serious and recreational dancers alike. It is a joy to see the shaping of caring minds as well as turned out well extended bodies and this is tightrope they have mastered!
