The Turning Pointe Dance Studio offers a variety of dance styles tailored to foster individual growth and a love for movement across different age groups. While specific, detailed class schedules may vary by season, the core offerings based on available information and customer reviews typically include:
- Combination Classes (Ballet/Tap/Jazz/Acrobatics): Especially for younger dancers (e.g., ages 3-6), these classes introduce fundamentals of multiple styles, providing an engaging and exploratory experience.
- Ballet: As the foundation for many dance styles, ballet classes focus on alignment, posture, precision, grace, and classical technique through barre and center work, building discipline and strength.
- Tap: Students learn to create rhythms and make music with their feet, developing coordination and musicality through various tap styles.
- Jazz: Incorporating ballet technique with more dynamic movements, jazz classes explore classical Broadway to contemporary upbeat styles, increasing flexibility and self-confidence. This may include "Character Jazz" which focuses on performance quality and stage presence.
- Hip Hop: High-energy, contemporary dance form with an edgy component, focusing on isolations, sharp movements, and personal expression to current hip-hop music.
- Lyrical: A merging of ballet and jazz styles, focusing on expressing emotion and storytelling through fluid movement, connecting deeply with song lyrics. (Often requires concurrent ballet class enrollment).
- Acrobatics (Acro): Skill-based classes that enhance strength, flexibility, and balance, incorporating gymnastics and tumbling elements that can be integrated into dance performances.
- Performing Company (Non-Competitive Performance Focus): While the studio is non-competitive in the traditional sense, they do offer a "Performing Company" for dancers (e.g., grades 3-12 with previous experience) who desire more performance opportunities. This is geared towards showcasing hard work and building stage presence rather than competition.
- Spring Showcase Performance: An annual event for all students to showcase their learned skills and hard work in a supportive and celebratory environment.
- Small Class Sizes: A key feature ensuring individual focus and attention for each dancer, contributing to personalized instruction and effective learning.
The Turning Pointe Dance Studio distinguishes itself through several outstanding features and highlights that make it a cherished institution for families in Victor, NY, and the surrounding areas.

Jan 04, 2024 · Karen LakeIf you are looking for a non-competitive studio where the focus is on learning technique and having fun, this is where you want to be. The owner/instructor, Lisa, has a great relationship with her students and has an obvious love for what she does. Classes are small enough for individual focus on each dancer and offer a variety of different dance experiences. My daughters are able to take ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop for a very reasonable monthly rate. We look forward to their spring showcase performance every year. Many students stay with the studio from the time they are young students until they graduate from high school, a testament to what a welcoming environment Lisa has created at the studio.
