Suncoast Gymnastics Academy Reviews
We’ve been attending Suncoast Gymnastics for over four years, and while there are some positive aspects, I feel it’s important to share our experience for other families considering this gym. My child has only moved up one level during that time, which has been disappointing given the length of our commitment. The class sizes are consistently large, which leads to long periods of waiting between turns. I completely understand the challenges that come with group instruction, but the lack of individual attention seems to really slow progress. There was even a time that my child was super excited to show all the skills she had been working on at home (and aced!) at the end of class, but the coach said, not today, sorry.Unfortunately, the coach isn’t able to adequately monitor, evaluate, or correct each gymnast during class. This is likely due to the size of the groups and overall structure, but it does impact the children’s ability to improve. The facility itself also leaves a bit to be desired. The bathrooms are often in poor condition (though I’m glad to hear they’re finally being renovated), and the air conditioning is weak at best. It’s tough just sitting in the waiting area so I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be for the kids working hard on the floor.Another area that needs improvement is communication. They recently added star assessments to the app during evaluations, which sounds great in theory. However, there is no follow-up or explanation of what those evaluations mean, whether your child is progressing, or what they might need to work on. You don’t even know if they’re eligible to move up.With all that said, the one bright spot, and the reason we’ve stayed as long as we have, is that my child really enjoys the friendships she’s built at Suncoast. The social environment has been a positive part of her experience.
Jun 09, 2025 · NicoleWe have been at Suncoast for over 3 years doing a variety of classes. I will start by saying the coaches are amazing. Coach Jase, Coach Gavin and Coach Aubrey are wonderful in the Ninja school. Coach Riva is great with the little ones for gymnastics. Every dance class we've attended has been excellent, by both coach Tanya and Misti. Also, Alex at the front desk is amazing! However, the new make up policy is horrible. I've had multiple times where my kids were sick so I didn't want to take them but also don't want to miss an expensive class! The lack of make up options and flexibility encourages parents to bring in sick children and the place becomes a germ fest. Prior to new ownership, there was unlimited make ups and smaller class sizes. The huge class sizes make it hard for the coaches to keep track of the individuals and focus on their skills. I understand the need to make money as a business but the cut off for class sizes is getting larger and larger! I feel bad for the coaches who care and are trying to give each child their attention because it becomes difficult with so many kids.
Jan 13, 2025 · NEALVIN BRIDERMy daughter LOVES their camps, she is enjoying their spring break camp this week and is looking forward to summer camps, all summer long. Staff is great, facilities are awesome!
Jun 02, 2025 · Frederick E. LeesebergThe coach for the 3:30 Ninja class is AWESOME!! He has such patience with the kids. And a great teacher! It’s too bad that some of the kids don’t listen and it takes away from the class. Parents need to recognize this. His entire team is amazing!!!
Jan 14, 2025 · Amanda ReyesOur 6yo is loving Ninja class!! Coach Aubrey is a great mix of firm and understanding. Every kid needs a coach who’ll help push them, and be there if they “fall”. The kids are learning practical exercise and outdoor fun skills as well as a Nina Code on how to treat others respectfully! I’d recommend SNA for kids of all ages!!!
