For families in Albuquerque and the wider New Mexico region seeking dance instruction, Sandra's School Of Dance offers a long-established option with a diverse array of programs. Its suitability for locals can be viewed through several lenses, particularly its history and wide range of offerings for various age groups.
Firstly, the studio's physical location on Eubank Blvd NE provides practical accessibility for many Albuquerque residents. Its placement in a well-trafficked area means it is generally easy to reach by car, which is a key consideration for parents managing busy schedules and transportation needs for their children's activities. Being a long-standing local business, it's a familiar name within the community, often passed down through generations of families seeking dance education.

The availability of competitive dance companies also provides a pathway for more serious students to pursue their passion at a higher level, participating in local and regional competitions, which can be a significant draw for ambitious young dancers in New Mexico.
However, it is also important for local families to consider the full spectrum of experiences reported by patrons. While some praise the "adequate instruction" and the teachers' efforts, others have noted areas where the "recital process and messages taught" and "customer service" could "improve." For a local establishment with over 40 years in business, its longevity suggests a core appeal, but modern expectations for communication, hospitality, and event execution are increasingly important. Therefore, while Sandra's School Of Dance offers a traditional and broad-based dance education for the Albuquerque community, prospective families may wish to engage directly with the studio to ensure it aligns with their personal values regarding student experience, communication, and overall environment.

Sandra's School Of Dance Reviews
Our 5 year old great granddaughter has been there 1 yr now. She likes the classes and is a exceptional student. The teachers offer adequate instruction. However, the recital process and messages taught 5 year olds leave alot to be desired. We spent a couple $100 on recital tickets only to be seated and watch a dancer (granted a good performer) who wasn't part of the 5:30 pm class to show up and literally shove our 5 year old off to the side. She refused (rightfully) to dance after that. All the children left the performance with crowns and wands. Our girl didn't receive one! Someone should have taken her to the treat table. She said she was told that if you dont dance you could not go to the treat table. Being an obedient child, she didn't expect to go. It was a hurtful disappointment. Our girl is in the summer program because she wants to be involved. This school could improve on several levels. Frankly with 44 years in the business I am taken aback.
Jun 14, 2025 · Sandra CandelariaI had high hopes for Sandra’s School of Dance, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The customer service was extremely poor, with staff showing little interest in helping or welcoming new students. The overall environment felt cold and unwelcoming, making it difficult to feel comfortable or enjoy the classes. It's disappointing to see such potential go to waste due to a lack of basic courtesy and hospitality. I hope they improve their approach to customer service and create a more inviting atmosphere for future dancers.
Jun 27, 2024 · Franny HernandezI cannot say enough about how instrumental Sandra’s has been for my daughter’s confidence and social skills. The kind and patient staff always go above and beyond to make the kids feel welcome and included. My girl loves to dance and do gymnastics and she is learning so many skills from all of the awesome, talented teachers at the studio. Highly recommend!
Jun 27, 2021 · Ally SpingolaThe highlight of my daughter’s week! The instructors are caring and diligent, and the atmosphere is relaxed and fun. The studio seems new and fresh, but I get a sense of nostalgia when I go in, having eaten at the home town buffet decades ago when it was there. We have been dancing her for a long time and plan to continue for many years!
Jan 05, 2024 · Julia BurrisMy daughter has been dancing at SSD for two years now, we've spent the last year on the competition team and I couldn't ask for a better dance studio. The family environment is amazing, welcoming and beneficial for the students. My daughter, even though only 5, has blossomed at Sandra's. Her self confidence is incredible and the instruction and motivation provided by the teachers is priceless. I love that gymnastics is incorporated to the classes, not only is she learning ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop, she is learning the correct way to do gymnastics.I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking. Sandra, the owner and her staff are amazing.
